Continuing in the Wierd tradition, a place to discuss your wierd dreams should you wish to do so. Discuss, compare, maybe analyze if you want because, yes, your dreams do try and reach out to you.

When I usually dream of high school, it ALWAYS involves dance and something negative happening. Usually, it's my dance instructor telling me how bad of a dancer I was, how I meant nothing to her, something to that extent. Well, the other night, I had one. It wasn't the usual one though. It was the last day or close to it. there was a routine going on and I was shoved in it, trying to learn it while having to go out on the stage in, like, an hour or 30 minutes or something. Time was pressed, I couldn't do it, people were getting frustrated, I was getting frustrated. I think we're about to go on stage or we already are, and that's when I'm like, "Ya know, **** it! **** it." And I walked away.

I know what my dance dreams mean now. I know what action I need to take in order to make them stop. Maybe this is the first step to it.

I often dream that I have an additional motorbike that I bought for myself, but then I start worrying because I cannot remember where I left it. I wake up trying to work out whether the weird dream was about losing one of my motorbikes or about having an extra one in the first place.

I also dream sometimes that I own a second property somewhere (usually an nice apartment or condo) somewhere in the City (London, I guess). I wake up wondering how the hell I can afford a second property.

Some of my dreams are actually weird, though. Truly.

Three or four years ago I dreamed that the forum was a bar - a near-replica of the Cheers bar actually - with an assortment of 'familiar' posters as patrons. "Stuff" happened but I didn't write down any details, so what I've just written is all I remember.

One thing I DO remember was my first thought upon waking up: "I need to get the hell off the internet." I suck at taking my own advice.

I think I've mentioned that dream here before... or maybe I dreamed that too. That's creepy.

I've had a recurring dream since I was a teenager about attending a ball at an opulent hotel in the middle of a crazy blizzard. Sometimes it's a masked ball. More often it's just a very formal dance. Although there's no sense of urgency, I always seem to be passively looking for somebody or am aware that someone is looking for me - but we either never meet or I wake up moments before we do. Sometimes the patrons are all ghosts. Sometimes I am the ghost. There's always some kind of "haunting activity" taking place. It's never exactly the same.

My room is always "412" but one of two things always happens; I either can't find it or never remember anything that goes on in there.

If you've read this far, you deserve a cookie. The funny thing about dreams is that they are often intensely interesting to the dreamer but very dull to the people you share them with. :)

    1. I'm in school again. It's not an unpleasant kind of dream, I'm even fully aware that I'm doing it a second time, voluntarily. I'm a bit worried about not doing my duties at work, however.

    2. I'm on my way somewhere and suddenly I notice that I'm wearing no shoes. Not really embarassing, it's just unpleasant to run around when the weather is bad while wearing only socks.

    3. Riding a bike, driving a car etc. and it doesn't react well to my attempts to brake or change its course, leading to accidents. No bloody ones, however.

    4. Driving a motorbike, even though I have no license. I'm not afraid of being caught, I just don't have as much control over it as I should.

    5. I'm playing a computer game (D2 until recently), fully realizing that I'm just dreaming. That means, my finds don't make me that happy because they will be gone when I will wake up. I also dreamed about finding HRs on the ground when taking a walk somewhere, usually when I played D2 before going to bed.

6.+ These would violate the forum rules. Don't ask which ones...

I used to have 3 recurring dreams when I was young. Haven't had any of them in a year. I also had 2 VERY disturbing dreams, 1 of which would probably break the forum rules and then some.

    Recurring...

    1. I'm in a forest, and get taken captive by monkeys or something (bit fuzzy memory). In the beginning of the dream, I feel completely helpless and the monkeys seem so much bigger than me. I'm being taken to their leader, and something I say trigger 1 monkey to toss a coconut at me (I've no idea why it tossed a coconut). Then I realized it didn't hurt at all, and in pure annoyance threw it back at them. At this point I notice the monkeys aren't as big or strong as they first seem, and the monkey I hit with the coconut went flying threw the air. Ofc this makes all the other monkeys start attacking me by tossing coconuts, and I dodge some, catch some with my hands and others I just take the hit... because why not? They didn't hurt. So from here on out I've gone from being terrified into having a complete blast, rampaging through the forest, and tossing coconuts at monkeys, watching them fly off into the distance when I hit.

    2. I'm out playing at the other end of the ocean from where we have our cabin, we know the people living there very well and visit them often. So I'm familiar with the area. Suddenly I'm being chased down by a guy with some freaky mask on, wielding a chainsaw. I try to scream, and at first I manage to, but the noise from the chainsaw makes it so my dad couldn't hear. I keep running as fast as I can, but I never get any closer to where my dad is, and eventually I'm even unable to scream. This all happens in a sort of 3rd person perspective, and ends with me being cut to pieces, and I wake up right afterwards.

    3. I'm walking along a road with several friends. For some reason everything in this world is made out of ice, except for humans. Houses, trees, cars you name it. We cross a bridge, and there is a small hole in it. Some of my friends decide to jump over it, just to be cool. And of course I want to do it as well and jump over last. But now the "road" in the middle of the bridge starts to collapse. All of my friends manage to hold on to the part of the bridge that doesn't collapse, except for me. I fall down back first, watching up as my friends watch down. I wake up before landing, with hands and feet in the air. >_>

    Firstly, BOOKMARKED! I love dreams!
Go for it! Second property!? Second motorcycle!? DO IT! YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS NEEDS YOU! RARRR!
Very interesting. Always 412? Any real-world knowledge of that number? Or seemingly random? The reason why dreams aren't interesting to others is that we leave out millions of details when recalling dreams. Even when we write them down immediately, there are still details that we miss out, and hopefully will remember when we re-read the dream we wrote.
I like your dream #1. Gives me hope! Being completely scared crapless, but after that 'fear' happening (getting 'hurt'), and it doesn't hurt, it's no longer fearful, and you (generalize 'you') gain power over what you're being fearful of.

I LOVE dreams. Love figuring them out, looking into another human-being's subconscious, looking into another human mind and 'seeing' what they see. Love it.

Ok, ok... My dreams. Had a dream a couple of days ago with Thyaid in it. She was blonde, and we talked about something or another. Pretty attractive, too. Dreams are so personal. Here's one I had multiple times as a child.

I'm running through a downtown area with lots of tall, gray buildings. Running. Running from monsters. They keep chasing me. I'm scared to death. Cannot run fast enough, I never can. I get to the top of one of the buildings, run to the edge, look behind me, and there they are. Coming after me, still. I get to the very edge, look down, and man, it's a long ways down. Look behind me, there they are, closer and closer. Jump. Wake up.

I've had this dream about three times since I was a child. Maybe more, since I realized they years in between each dream increased exponentially. Each time I had it, I would jump, fall almost half way, wake up. Next time, jump, fall past half way, wake up. I used to be afraid that I would hit the ground in it, since I kept getting closer and closer to the ground, but luckily, I haven't had that dream in about ten years.

    Where my soldiers is at?
This is the music video for my dream.

It's been 412 since the first time I had that dream (February 16, 1992) and it just seemed to stick. The number doesn't have any significance as far as I know and google searches turned up hits on a (fairly) recent short film that I've never seen and a video game I've never played.

I do keep a notebook on my nightstand and although I don't keep a dream diary, I always jot down the details of these particular dreams since they really interest me for some reason. I always figured I'd find some way to use the concept in a piece of fiction but my attempts over the years have been pretty shoddy.

Around the time these dreams began I was devouring alot of American and British ghost stories (primarily from the Gilded/Victorian age as well as the pulp era[SUP]*[/SUP]) and was also pretty obsessed with Native American mythology and Jungian psychology.[SUP]**[/SUP]

*chortle* I cannot wait until she sees that. :D

*A short reading/viewing list of items that probably helped shape these dreams include: "Masked Ball", by Seabury Quinn; "The King in Yellow", by Robert W. Chambers; "The Death of Halpin Frayser", "An Inhabitant of Carcosa" and "The Haunted Valley", by Ambrose Bierce; "The Masque of the Red Death", "The Fall of the House of Usher", "Lenore" and "The Raven", by E.A. Poe, "The Yellow Wallpaper", by Charlotte Perkins Gilman; "The Haunting of Hill House", by Shirley Jackson; "Nyarlathotep", by H.P. Lovecraft; "Ghost Story", by Peter Straub; and "The Guests", an episode of the original Outer Limits.

**Interaction with psychopomps (which manifest as animals or objects that help, hinder or just observe) are a major theme in these dreams and I've no doubt that the two obsessions I mentioned had absolutely everything to do with their "presence."

I can write a good short story about this one-time dream. The problem is, I find supernatural subjects rather banal. Anyway, it's entertaining enough for here.

A middle-aged woman and her mother (both rather small, wiry women in trim dresses) are climbing a high stairwell. They have gotten into a big building after hours to steal some fancy chairs stored in a conference room on an upper floor. They each carry down a stack of chairs to load them into their car outside. They have done this most of their lives, you see. They steal things and sell them at yard sales. No one will query a woman with her mother. If you were a security guard or someone who asked, then tonight, they are just "organizing a meeting."

They get to the conference room stuffed with the chairs, and this is the part where they don't care because it's a big rich looking building anyway. Other days bring other excuses. In fact, the real tragedy here is that they can't haul this many chairs and must make due with their small car.

They gather a bunch, and on their way down again, the daughter looks up and sees that her mother has set the chairs aside and is standing precariously on the rail over the square shaped pit of many storeys. Just staring straight ahead, the mother lets herself fall forward like a bungee jumper.

The daughter is aghast. She hurries down, but stops when she hears a perverted grumbling man obsessing over something. She peeks over the rail, and down a few floors she spies a suited man bent over some chairs of his own, only he has more--far more than what was already stashed in their car. How did he get those?

He has a freakishly lumpy, almost deformed bald head. There is definitely some cauliflowering of his ears or something. The woman keeps watching the man as he fondles and marvels over the seats of the chairs. It's like he's getting off because a thousand women have sat in them. And, he keeps grunting "chairs" and excitedly stacks them, like he can't wait to get them home, like chairs are his porn collection. He stands up and looks rather muscular for an old bald guy. The woman realizes that he doesn't actually stand like a normal guy, and that he has a hooked nose that cannot be human and the face of a gargoyle.

Yep, he is Lucifer, the dude himself. The woman sneaks up the stairs, and those pictures that someone put in the stairwell for some reason are all ****ed up. The Mona Lisa now has a girly smile with a black tooth grin. The black and white one of Martin Luther King's bellowing face captioned "I have a dream" now shows his dead body and has "I had a dream" in the same italics. The stairs keep going up. There is no way out.

I wish I could have more dreams like this. I think part of it comes from The Omen, where a housemaid offs herself as a sacrifice.

I woke up in a panic this morning having dreamt that the free market economy doesn't work.

Then I saw this and was reassured that all is fine and well.

where's my cookie? Come on! chop chop!

have you added 412 up? It's 7. maybe 7 is a number of significance to you, whether it's in the cards or just in general? Maybe something happened on the seventh date? If you add up the one and six that's also seven and the first time you had the dream. if you add up all the numbers (2 + 16 + 1992) that's 2010 which is three. Not seven (obviously), but maybe that's another significant number as well. or maybe pure coincidence.

    which ones? ;)

    that is ****ing crazy!!

my recurring dreams, since i was little, used to involve rape. Idk why because there was no reason for it. And I'm talking little little, like 10. I remember two rape dreams and one of them a black woman saved me. Actually it was Flo from Good Times. o_O

when i was 14 or so, the dreams changed to me getting away and have been that way since. I have come close to it happening in my dreams but I manage to get away.

Another recurring dream is tornadoes. I think these have happened since I was pubescent too. And every time, EVERY time, there is a smell. I call it the smell of fear, but... Okay, you know when you make a volcano out of baking soda and vinegar and you make the base out of some salty dough? That is as close as I can describe the smell. Salty, and... Idk how to describe it. Not dough-like or inside a bakery. And the wind blows and my heart races. I am scared and need a place to hide. protection. the tornado is so powerful. it destroys. So much wind that sometimes it's hard to breathe. I think that they mean my life is busy and I need to calm down and relax, but now that I am discussing it with yall... lol, I'm not so sure.

Spiders. Ugh.... just about every dream with a spider in it I am scared ****less and run away. Although there was one where I held a Brazilian Bird Eating Spider. Scared ****less but I did not scream and dealt with it as best I could.

Last night I dreamt that I went to the Wal-Mart in my hometown, dreading I would run into people from high school there. I ended up walking past two or three of them. One of them, a girl I used to dance with, gave me this shocked look as I walked by.

So after dodging some people, I was either at the bank or some Starbucks in wal-mart (i know, i know...). Another dude I had known from waaaay back approached and was like, "Do you remember me?""Holy ****! Alan..." I think it was Alan.... anyways, we got to talking, he told me that this ex-classmate named Connie (RL name) spread a rumor that I was dead and that's why people were looking at me oddly. So walking back with him and his friends, I ran into Ms. Connie and gave her a piece of my mind. Saw yet another classmate named Jennifer who looked at me wierdly and I was like, "Hi, Jennifer! How are you? did you think I was dead too?" She nodded, kinda scared and timidly, and I just glared at Connie, this malicious grin on my face and was like, "You *****. How ****ing dare you?"

So, my job complete, I go and try and find some ice cream. The cartons are all beaten up, but I still wanted some, lol! So I'm looking and hear Alan walking by. He told me that Connie had known all the guys in Blue Corps (?? College corps? No idea, but something similar to military, ROTC, etc.) and knew their friends. She HAD to know them and the only two words came to mind during that conversation: manipulation and sabotage. Alan may have told me that she knew everyone so she could screw them over later. I approach her again and ask what was her problem, who the hell she thought she was, why would she try and manipulate others to hate each other... She was trying to search for excuses and she may have given me some, but I don't remember them.

Other than I couldn't stand Connie in school, I have no idea why I dreamed about her.

if it helps any, Steve, we dream at least... what was the stat?

    *Google*

I thought it was higher, but most sites that I am skimming quickly says we are able to have 4-6 dreams at night, sometimes even seven. I have heard up to ten, but we all cannot remember our dreams. Some of us only can recall 2 or 3 and then at that sometimes it's sketchy. When we try to recall a dream we do not remember everything. What our brain does is try to fill in the blanks so we may add things to the dream, subtract. We do this in real life too when recalling memories or stories. Sometimes we get it exact or what the teller has perceived to be the truth. Again, there are three sides to a story: yours, theirs, and then the actual truth. :D

Anyways... Steve, don't feel bad if you can't recall your dreams. If you want to, you can try keeping a little journal by your bedside and groggily writing down something. :) even if it's a vague feeling or sight. Sometimes my dreams are hard to describe because I know what I see I just don't know how to describe it.

Waking up and writing in it immediately will help tremendously.

One of my biggest fears happened last night: Got put in a crazy house.
I was in some neighborhood. There was this blonde haired lady (mississippi queen, ya you know what i mean) that I thought was attractive that stayed at this house. I knew it for a crazy house since there were lots of men and women in their late 40s, early 30s, and so forth. They had that 'lived a rough life' look to them. They didn't seem crazy cuckoo, but more like "One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" type of crazy. Look and seem normal, but really aren't.
    *memory deleted*
I ran into the back of this house to get 'out', per-say. As I couldn't get over the fence, I went in the back door, walked to the front door, unlocked it, and went outside. All in a hurried pace. Very nice house with red colors and decor. Very lovely. All the houses in this 'hood were big and nice. Lots of trees. As I was walking down the stairs of the porch, thinking to myself "what a wonderful day," this woman (from Target that day. Thought she looked like Michelle Obama. Better looking though ;P) asked me, "What are you doing walking out of Tim's house?" Kept on asking me. I just walk off nonchalantly.
    *memory deleted*
I kept hanging out with this blonde lady. After waking up, she reminded me of an ex-girlfriend. I knew exactly 'who' she was. She looked different and acted different, but I 'knew,' ya'know? I go to the house where she stays at and realize that I don't think they are going to let me leave. I tell them I'm going to call my mom. Walk to the end of the driveway (not that far, maybe 30 ft) and start talking to her. Casual bs convo with mom, then, "Mom, you have to get over here now. I don't think they're going to let me leave."
Mom - "So, anyways honey, I was looking for some gravy for my mashed potatoes I'm cooking later tonight." (Not what she said, but you get the picture)
Me - "Mom! They're not going to let me leave! Do you hear me?!"
I could tell she heard me, as she was quite. Didn't say too much, but kept on talking about what she was getting from the store.
Mom - "I'm looking for some other stuff to c......."
"DAMN IT, MOM! DO YOU NOT HEAR ME!? THEY'RE GOING TO ****ING KEEP ME HERE! GOD DAMN IT! AHH! MOM!!!" Now, I don't speak to my mother with those lips, but in this situation, it had to be done.
(quite on the other end) (I could tell she wanted to say something, but didn't. She knew)
Me - "You knew? Mom. Mom, please..."

I realized they realized I was trying to get away. The main woman had some umbrella thing that once it got over you it would shock you if you tried to get out from under it.
Me - "Okay, okay guys. I'm coming. I'm coming willingly. You don't have to be forceful." That ****ing umbrella had got me. ****ing a man. ****ing a.

I didn't see that blonde lady any more :(
