So election day is upon us Americans! Supposedly this is becoming a real nail-biter.

Personally, I think that while it may not be a landslide, Rombot will secure a substantial victory, perhaps even one resounding enough to even make the Socialists in charge of the Democrat Party lick their wounds for a month or two. The reason I think this is going to happen is summed up well by a comic blogger named Jim Treacher, referencing Obama's claim that I mention as the thread title.

    • It’s revenge for being told you’re unpatriotic for wanting to keep the money you’ve earned.
    • It’s revenge for being falsely accused of screaming racial epithets at Congressmen, and then being called a racist for demanding proof that never comes because it doesn’t exist.
    • It’s revenge for a massive stimulus that massively failed to stimulate anything but the bank accounts of Obama’s cronies at our expense, and for shovel-ready jobs that were “not as shovel-ready as we expected.â€
    • It’s revenge for putting up with a corrupt media that has abdicated its responsibilities in order to flack for the Democrats, even as the leader of the Democratic Party snubs them in favor of Letterman, The View, and “the Pimp with a Limp.â€
    • It’s revenge for the years-long smear campaign against Sarah Palin and her family.
    • It’s revenge for having to hear about Big Bird, binders, bayonets, Bain, Seamus the dog, magic underpants, Sandra Fluke’s sex life, and all the other distractions Obama’s supporters have had to resort to, because they can’t exactly talk about his record.
    • It’s revenge for being lied to every single day, on every single issue, and then being maligned and lied about and called a racist for daring to notice.
    • It’s revenge for Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods, and Glen Doherty, whose lives were sacrificed by their own government on the anniversary of 9/11, and whose murders were falsely blamed on the First Amendment because otherwise somebody might forget that Obama eventually gave the order to kill Bin Laden.
    • It’s revenge for having to listen to the 44th President of the United States blame all his failures on anyone and everyone but himself.
    • It’s revenge for “You didn’t build that.â€
    • It’s revenge for Obamacare.
    • It’s revenge for “I won.â€

There's seething resentment and outrage on the American right, not only against THE WON but against the array of Progressive endeavours. The resentment and outrage from the Left? Well, even if it was something he could sustain for four years, he was in absolute control - and that led to the TEA Party whipping of 2010. That same anger (claimed as Racist! by the mainstream media) hasn't gone away.

So what do you think is going to happen?

I think that the Punch'n'Judy Show is getting ready to start another four year cycle and that the group of people who have held power over the past 50 years will remain largely unchanged. We'll get a new lead actor, or we won't get a new lead actor, but as his lines and his scripts have already been written, what's the diff?

I'll wave a flag for Mitty, but only because of the big stick his victory will provide me with, to paddle Merv's behind with over the next four years or so. Unless Mitty gets himself impeached before the end of his first term, of course - for being a twot.

    Happy voting, folks!

You may imagine that you're making me outraged - aside from being able to bypass the word filter with 'twot'. I'm really not, and I'm fully aware of Amercia's our own bi-polar "dance of the lemons" as noted with Bob's outrageous outrage about the RNC voter fraud scandal. In like manner, all the stops will come out regarding Rombot as the mainstream media tries in vain to reclaim relevance and the pretence of legitimacy they've lost over the last four years. The problem is that the "right" is the only group that really finds fault with the concept of a ruling elite any more - you'll recall from the astroturf that was the Occupy Wall Street movement, most of them were anti-Capitalist pro-Gov't dweebs who simply didn't articulate their message well.

I guess I'm saying that Ron Paul and his cohorts don't exist on the Left. You have Bernie Sanders, you have a raging egomaniac, and you have a troll doll. That's not exactly the hotbed of anti-establishment mentality the Left fancies itself to be.

I don't like your use of the microscope in these discussions, Merv. Actually, I do like it, it's fun to play with, but anywhale ...

The Right does indeed have a problem with a "ruling elite" if it's a visible ruling elite. OTOH, they are quite happy with their old boy network ruling elite. Rule One: Move the money around and don't get caught - which is why Mitty is such a disappointment.

It's all smoke'n'mirrors anyway. I'm just sorry that you think I am attempting to bypass the word filter in an attempt to outrage you in an outrageous fashion. I type the words I mean, the filter will have to look out for itself. It's only outwardly outrageously outraging.

Ah. There's a 10.5% chance that Obama will retain the Presidency.

    Go, Mitty! :smug:

If you live in North Dakota, you don't have to register, you just have to have lived there for 30 days. Oh, and you have to be known to the locals - otherwise you cannot vote.

So, get in your damned time machine, Ash, and get your *** back to Shyteberg, ND.

How you settling in there, by the way?

I don't think I could be surrounded by primitive screwheads in a state that only has 12 people in it

I still expect Obama to win. Or maybe I'm just telling myself that so I'm prepared for the worst. Either way I'm not exited about the coming 4 years.

I also have a confession to make. I won't be voting. First time since I was 18. I moved a month or so ago and forgot to change my registration. :ashamed:

Guys, the poll isn't about your vote, but about what you think is going to happen. I didn't really want the last option to be voting for Durf, and the Sweet Meteor of Death already has a strong constituency, so it had to be 'Puffy'.
Never fear; someone from ACORN will doubtless take care of that for you.
I like something Mark Steyn pointed out regarding Hurricane Sandy, much along the same lines:
"In a county entirely untouched by Sandy, my office manager had no electricity for a week. Not because of an "emergency" but because of a decrepit and vulnerable above-the-ground electrical distribution system that ought to be a national embarrassment to any developed society. A few weeks ago, I chanced to be in St. Pierre and Miquelon, a French colony of 6,000 people on a couple of treeless rocks in the North Atlantic. Every electric line is underground. Indeed, the droll demoiselle who leads tours of the islands makes a point of amusingly drawing American visitors' attention to this local feature."

So the market doesn't always lead to better living conditions. If the people want it, they will somehow have to pay for it.

Unfortunately, you have never been a particular rigid believer of the "market is everything" faction, so I cannot use this that well to oppose you :p.

Well, true though that may be, there are more than enough barriers to market function present which are preventing these simple improvements. Power companies are bad enough, but the telco's take the cake - these blighters basically are the recipients of public-funded effort (telephone infrastructure), spend little to no money on improvement, and are essentially in the business of harvesting low-hanging fruit and then fecking over the customer. Real-life examples of what Bain was purported to be. Unions play a significant role in the stultification...

Back OT, I found this little tidbit: GOP (minority) poll inspectors in Philly physically expelled, Black Panther enforcers replaced them. Thing is, the Fascist Left insists that there's no issue here to be found, and the NBPP is about the size of Fred Phelps church, so WTF is it with Eric Holder protecting them?

    Would anybody really feel intimidated?

Whoever might lose, it's useful to prepare a few "reasons" in advance, just in case, to make a better impression at being more plausible.

It's a "letter of the law" deal, as are all the claims from the Left. They're simply not allowed to be there in the first place, just as GOP observers aren't allowed to be man-handled out and just as U.N. observers aren't allowed to be engaged at all in some states.

Personally? I'd break their wimpy wannabee militant faces into pieces (the NBPP, not the UN) almost as quickly as I'd do the same to the Phelps crowd - but the Phelps crowd doesn't attempt physical intimidation. Personally, I look forward to the Kazakhstanis lecturing Texas on legal voting procedures.
The Left won't bother. Romney already stole or bought the election because... ... SQUIRREL!

EDIT - I have that on the highest authority. I mean, the HIGHEST.
