    venom/poison zealot?

    anyone tried sth like this?

    think of below gear
    grief phase blade (lvl15venom ctc %35, -25enemyposnres, lvl15venom: 305-325)
    bramble armor (%50posnskill)
    trangouls gloves (%25posnskill)
crown of ages with 2 poison facets (%10posnskill, -10enemyposnres)
    medusa's gaze (lvl7lowerersist ctc %10)

no aura will be directly helpful to you (conviction will be useless) so you can either go for fanaticism (physical, grief will shine) or holyshock/holyfreeze for elemental. you will have a thorns aura active and medusa has no block. with low block lowerresist will proc frequently and thorns will work (yea very low but still there).

havenot tried this but seems possible on paper. what do you think?

So where does the poison damage actually come from? Grief?

Even assuming the +85% skill damage and -100% resists, your 1165 damage over .4 seconds. or 2914 a second. A decent zealot getting one attack per .16 seconds only needs 470 damage per swing to match this. Point is there are easier, more efficient ways. Another problem is that zealots can hit a target 3 times before the poison wears off, even though it's only .4 seconds, effectively wasting two hits.

Not to say that you couldn't make it work, but given the requisite gear, it's not really worth it. Another option might be loading up on Pestilent SC's of Anthrax and using a Conversion (eh, call it an Evil Missionary, or Grand Inquirer). Have him use Vengeance maybe and you'd be doing a decent amount of 5 kinds of damage. Again, not very effective given the cost, but could be fun game-play.

    just my thoughts about this:

if you use fanaticism the physical damage output with grief should outperform the poison damage by miles, so u´ll be a bit weird equipped fanazealot in the end. without block, high idr or %dr u´ll need a nice damage and enough leach to keep your life up, since u´ll have no tab.

clervis' idea sound like a more poison themed build

but by all means, give it a go and don´t let us talk you out of it

    Re: venom/poison zealot?

+85% Poison Skill Damage applies when Venom is cast, and again when its added poison damage is applied by a melee attack like Zeal, so with poison damage added by two Rainbow Facet Jewels it's actually 1,070 [SUB]210/256[/SUB] - 1,139 [SUB]86/256[/SUB] poison damage over 0.4 second (2,677 [SUB]13/256[/SUB] - 2,848 [SUB]87/256[/SUB] poison damage per second) before Poison Resist +/-% and -% Enemy Poison Resistance are applied.

Zeal has maximum attack rate of 4.8 frames per attack on average (it's 8/4/4/4/4, or 24 frames for 5 attacks), and your analysis only applies to a single target: if three or more targets are attacked, poison damage will be applied to each target for its full length before a second attack is made. However, -35% EPR would increase poison length to 13 frames so when attacking three targets only 12/13 of total poison damage would be applied.

40 Pestilent Small Charms of Anthrax and two Rainbow Facet Jewels with +85% PSD would apply 32,828 [SUB]160/256[/SUB] poison damage over 11.52 seconds (2,849 [SUB]181/256[/SUB] poison damage per second) before poison resistance is applied.

i gave up after reading this:)

my initial idea was: we have a riftadin (i have one too) so thought maybe there is sth related with poison. checked for venom and poison skill items. seems like not worth the hassle but i might try sth similar on sp maybe

    thanks guys

It's a unique build but I don't think psn dmg is all that viable. But please do try it out, you might discover something =P
