No it's not just you, I haven't seen him here for a while. His presence has been sorely missed.

Ah fall my favorite time of year. :) Well it's been nearly a week and a half since i injured my back at work now and nearly a month since katrina destroyed my home. Given the situation it's kind of hard not to be bummed out, dare i say depressed? My wife and kid's have been super troopers about the whole thing as have my in-laws whom we are now living with. I'm concerned about my future at my job because as i feared, they have started to give me some static. I've had to call them and get information from them to provide the redcross and fema with in order to get hurricane relief and possibly assisstance in getting a new home. To say the least they have been quite rude.

I have personally witnessed three occassions where employees have been "let go" from work because they we injured at work. One of these people had been with the company for over fifteen years! The other two had been with the company two and three years respectively. I've always been told that this is common practice with corporations and that workman's comp is a hellish nightmare. I am now seeing this for myself and yeah i could always find another job, or can i? Does this sort of thing go on your record? Will other potential employer's see this and steer clear of me? I'm still awaiting the results of my M.R.I. but i already know there is substantial damage to my spinal cord as i am having alot of difficulties functioning as i normally do.

I feel that "the system", my company and workman's comp, is treating me like some kind of ogre, that they are the victim when i am in fact the one who was injured; just doing my job i might add. Ever since i was able to work, I was always told "if you get hurt at work don't report it and whatever you do, don't ever file for workman's comp." This was from older more experienced people as i was a youth then. I didn't really comprehend the meaning then, and really it's kind of hard not to report it when there are eight witnesses and you're carted out by ambulance. People notice things like that apparently.

If you've read all this, i appreciate it and am sorry to be such a bummer. Enjoy the fall season, i know i will regardless, i love this time of year!

Is that not discrimination? Paying you off (or whatever) because you were injured?

I'm no mechanic, but I guess your car will start produce a significant smell after some time, then make grinding sounds when changing gears, which will culminate into a loud rumble-CRANK when the motor and the momentum of the car destroys and jams the gearbox. The motor will stop and perhaps it gets destroyed as well and the wheels will block which might ruin your tyres. An automatic gearbox might self-destruct quite quickly, I guess.

-grabs a pillow and a large cover and curls up in a hidden corner to sleep-

-Dace; who is sleeping btw, don't touch me =\-

-stretches, yawns and then looks for Kireiray, who had stolen his pillow and gave him a horrible nights sleep on the threads floor-

    That wasn't nice =P

No, no, that would be if Kireiray said :
    "I loved you all"

"I love you all" is just being hopeful

The OT thread just draws you like a moth to a bug zapper, doesn't it, Dace. If you ever turn up missing, I'll just sticky a fresh OT thread in Community and tell your parents to just come and wait.

In case it isn't obvious, I'm just teasing. :D

I'd lend you one of my pillows but I'm seconds away from using them myself.

Psh. Just because I feel excluded from most of the other threads as I rarely have useful input to put into it (i think i'm going to steal some explination's and save it to a big word file =D )

-steals one of Dredd's pillows anyway and bashes people with his newly aquired 'mod pillow'... starting with Kireiray!-

A good idea. I myself have a .txt file filled with awesome Dredd-bot canned responses. Unfortunately, by the time I manage to unearth said file from the bowels of my hard drive, nine people have all ready posted.

Ewww, that's my "special" pillow that I tuck under my armpit every day. There's enough mansweat on that thing to kill a horse from 20 paces. Its green color has nothing to do with the dye. But at least I don't have to wash/burn it now, so enjoy!

    For sale or trade,

    Solid lead, pillow containment cover.

Nuclear powered, borium enriched, OT poster zapper.

Very large quanity of, extremely putrid but powerful potion, capable of completely eradicating such things as recalcitrant employers and workers compensation employees. (equally effective on bugs, snakes and current or ex-girlfriends who pick at you for posting on these forums)

    ISO (a bit of sanity)
