Trying out D1, pretty cool so far, classic rpg style. The only thing I miss is that there is no spells or abilities to be learned when leveling up, only books.

    Questions:

    1) Should I spend money on recharging my staff of mana or should I spend more money on mana potions? How many potions to have in inventory?
    2) Should I always have 1 town teleport in inventory or run back to town?
    3) I'm playing SP so guess monsters doesn't respawn, will there be enough money to buy lots of stuff?

I'm just at the start of the game, thanks for any advice :)

    1. I prefer mana potions, relying on staves is something i do not like to do at all, i just like to learn as many spells to as great a point as possible. 2.Keep at least 1 portal, when you hit level 4 especially you dont want to run back and forth. when making a town trip, get another portal. as you level the process will be easier. 3.there will definitely be enough money to fund your conquest - er purge of the cathedral. Go as far as possible, save at the beginning of a level, and dont save when your in a bad situation. If you get in a nasty situation learn from your mistake and respawn. Save at all checkpoints that you can find - next corner, find another lvl, etc. To regenerate a map, make a new game and it will reset. it will not reset your inventory. nothing despawns as far as i know until you make a new game, so feel free to make a collectors pile for anything you cant store at the moment. if you make a new game dont forget it though.

Thanks for the tips, didn't know about the new game thing, a good way to level up I guess.

I just completed the game as lvl 25, using staff of mana the whole game. Not too hard but final boss was rough.

Great game, maybe bit repetative with only dungeons but it shouldn't be compared with D2.

Making a new game when I hit level 5 was my staple way of leveling and farming starter gear, mostly spellbooks. After that it got a bit too repetitive to start anew every time.

As there is no stash but nothing despawns as long as you keep playing the same game, the place in town where the town portal comes out (right north of the centre) is in all my D1 games absolutely littered with every kind of crap I feel I can keep. I also tend to keep some +magic items there, as you only need a certain amount of magic to learn a spellbook and can drop the item again afterwards.
