    Releasedate and timezones

So how does this all work with timezones? I am planning on playing at launch with a preloaded copy. Last time i did this was with SC2 and if i remember correctly i could get going a few hours before midnight. I live in GMT +1 wich is 9 hours ahead of califonia if i am not mistaken.

Anybody with a better memory than i that can retell how it was the last time or knowledge of how it is working?

I just subscribed to this thread because I wonder this too, very much! I am also GMT +1. Since they put it on tuesday it is rather important what time we can start to play. If it was a weekend it would not matter that much.

    Re: Releasedate and timezones

TBH there is no official info about the release time, but I believe it will be the same as every other Blizzard release they did the past yers.
All the countries, that they announced for 15th of may, excluding those that are for 7th of June, will have simultaneous release. Meaning midnight parties for the release. Or arround midnight, it was arround 1 am last time that it happent for my country.

    GMT+2 here

But midnight occurs at different times depending on what timezone you're in. Midnight for me for instance is 9 hours away from midnight in CA. If they have a midnight release in CA and the release is at the same time all over the world, that means it will be 9 am for me.

To be honest, I'm hoping they mean 12AM PST as it means I can get a good night of sleep in before the game goes live over here in the UK. I think I might be going crazy though. I cannot find it documented anywhere officially on Blizzard's website or by a blue that says the servers all go live at midnight. Hmm!

Well, remember the Cata release, what time did it happen? Since EU release was like what i wrote, as i remember.

Servers will go live at 0:01 15th of May, its official. So release is 1 min before that. EU servers go live at a different time than US. Remember that.

It's quite possible some people in Australia will already have finished the Normal difficulty even before people on the western coast of the USA start playing :)

problem with this is : http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4175551303

so that means they have to open the US servers @ 16.00 local time (calif) 14th of may to allow aus to play the game 00.00 15th may (aus time)

Sharing this website, which helps me a lot on all timezone matters :

    http://www.worldtimebuddy.com/

I'm pretty sure servers will open at 12:00pm PST, don't you think ?
If so, for me who's GMT+1 (Paris), seems like I'll be playing at 9am :)

    Re: Releasedate and timezones

I could have sworn the post announcing the date said something like "12:01am PDT when the servers go live." I took that to mean they were going by time that and nothing else. However I reread the post and I couldnt find that bit.

    Re: Releasedate and timezones

Thats a problem.. But not ours.. And frankly Blizzard will make the release at 0:00 according US times. And thats only logical cause the market of players in US is larger than the one in Australia/New Zealand/Southeast Asia.
And dont forget US/EU servers wont open at the same time. They will open 0:01 on 15th according to the local timezone!

    Re: Releasedate and timezones

EU and US servers will open @ the same time, http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/news/?d=2012-3#152052

if they do it like you say previous, they need to change that the client NOT global, and if they change this now

EU servers will DIE when they open ;-) becouse of load problems.

    Re: Releasedate and timezones

I`m gona disagree with u here. Since what ur posting is US.blizzard.com check the same article in the EU.blizzard.com And there is nothing said about the time. Also we do know that there will be regional division btw EU/US/Asia just like there is in Diablo 2. There is some unofficial info about it, couldnt dig out the official news, but here is a green poster. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/3082080739
Also since we had that same login server quee for every WoW so far, even for Cataclysm, we`ll do have them for Diablo 3 aswell. But thats how Blizzard work.
