    Really that hard? (Inferno)

    Hi Community,

what do you think of Bashioks latest statement regarding difficutly and Inferno.

You're going to be smashing your face against Act 1 Inferno for weeks.

For my opinion i'm not sure if Inferno will be that hard, we will see.

If yes, there will be hopefully many viable builds!

Perfecting your build before then will not matter.

What about viable builds? :( - Will they viable enough for Inferno? (e.G. ZombieDog Bomber, Melee Wiz, ....)

This is something that's always concerned me.

If a sub-optimal build is Inferno-viable, does that mean that Inferno isn't challenging enough for optimal builds?

I suspect that Blizzard's solution is to tweak Inferno to be challenging even for optimal builds - that's the only way they can make sure Inferno is the most difficult thing ever. As a result, the actual number of viable builds to solo Inferno with won't be that high, I think =/.

That said, I think there'll be more leeway for builds when you're in a group, but that's the same for all difficulty levels :p.

They already made Diablo II with 2 levels except normal. I Think, when they are saying game is hard so many times, they may actually be right.

What you have to consider is how fast.It might be possible with lesser gear but at a very slow pace where your aggroing smaller groups of enemies or even individuals. It might be possible with lesser gear where you have more strategic teamwork.Look at the way people play in Tristram in D2 when people have got basic gear compared to how they play by act 4.Inferno might bring a new approach. When you think about it people planned a lot more when doing the Ubers,Stack on resists, get some Crushing blow plenty of life etc or it would be impossible to do.

It should be harder than D2's hell because D2's hell is not that hard at all. WoW's hm is harder than hell in D2 difficulty wise even it's different kind of game.

only weeks ? not that awesome.
i think they gonna do it kinda like wow with all the gear progress to survive. well, i think its kinda cool. hope it will take longer then weeks and he said act 1 on purpose meaning that act 2 and higher are even harder.

    This.
If it's about numbers, the gear grind in hell mode might get boring after a while.
Let's hope for unseen affix and abilities.

    Re: Really that hard? (Inferno)

How is grinding for items in Hell any more dull than grinding for items in Inferno? If anything, it makes grinding for gear in Hell all the more enjoyable, since you'll be saying to yourself "With two or three more good drops, I'll probably be prepared for Inferno where the real fun begins." As long as Hell remains a challenge through the grinding process, I don't see it getting dull. I think it would be difficult to make Inferno too hard(and thus not fun). Inferno is intended for hardcore gamers, the kind who want to put in the time and effort to grind, perfect their build, learn the nuances of the game, and study the mechanics.

If you play something long enough, especially in one session. It always gets boring and dull. Any game. No exceptions. This is something that always made me smile. How some people loved certain games, but after a few months thought they were dull. Untill some patch or expansion comes along. Were if you would play games at a "healthy" rate, instead of no-lifing it. You would not only have more fun, but also for a much longer time period. And actually be productive in real life at the same time. I guess this is something people learn when they grow wiser.

    Re: Really that hard? (Inferno)

I agree with you that if you play at a healthy rate it would be more fun and rewarding...
But as for your final sentence, if guys like Hitler had played more games they would have been "less productive" in real life, if you know what i mean...

Now that is some exciting news! Hope it's every bit as hard as he says it will be, and then some. I hope going Inferno undergeared will be as tough as trying to solo a Hell Baal run at clvl 20-30, if comparing to D2.

    He did!

Ill still be surprised if Inferno is as difficult as Blizzard tells us it is. I just don't believe it.
    Surprise me Blizzard!

I suspect a lot of rock star gamers will get through it easily and say that Blizzard lied to them. On the other side, many mediocre gamers will demand nerfs.

    You really can't please everyone.

    Re: Really that hard? (Inferno)

wtf? if it takes weeks to beat act 1 that is really awesome. you want each act to take a year? from this it will takelonger to beat act 1 inferno than it will to beat normal/nightmare/hell complete

i really think the goal for bliz is to have several good builds per class and balance inferno against that. the OP build will of course have an easier time in inferno but you cannot balance for that build as it would kill off every other build and customization would be thrown out the window. if you are having a far too easy time with that OP build everyone is using then go and use something else. self control is an amazing thing, gamers really need to learn it at some point
