    Monk's Beard

I hate it, aesthetically and logically.

Why would a character whose "body is their weapon" present the enemy with a nice big bushy handle on their face? It's also a fire hazard.

    Please implement a "beard toggle".

    Thank you for your time.
    Have a nice day.

    Re: Monk's Beard

It's funny how people like to poke at every single detail, even their facial features :coffee:

Probably the reason why Blizzard gave the monk a beard is to show his maturity and wisdom, like what we see in chinese martial art shows. It is always the highest ranking monks who have beards.

But if you watch the D3 Panels those monks do the "dirty work" of the "church". While patriarchs give orders. So they are not the highest ranking.

Muslims don't have any beard-related language in the Koran. I think you're thinking of Sikhs.

I like the general look of the monk, but his beard is too scraggly and not full or impressive enough to be, well, impressive. I'm curious as to how the female Monk looks.

Yes my bad, I am on 3 different forums and was on a religious discussion :O

Maybe scraggly is because he does not cut it. at all.

And the female part, maybe there is none :dontknow:

    Re: Monk's Beard

Where did you get this info from, its completely opposite of what was stated in the official website.

As any informed student of the peoples and cultures of this world must also realize, this man was one of the monks of Ivgorod, the secretive and reclusive holy warriors of the country.

    ...

He went on to describe his intense mental and physical training, his unending quest to hone his mind and body into an instrument of divine justice. Though I do wonder for what need his thousand gods would require a mortal man to implement their will. When I asked him why he did not carry a sword or, indeed, any weapon at all, he simply replied, "My body is my weapon." Then raising his hand and tapping his forehead, he added, "As is my mind."

Generally I think Blizzard tied the beard to his abilities, I doubt a clean shaven young monk would have the ability to assert such powerful skills. And that would leave a wrong impression to the players. Just like the barbarian.

    Re: Monk's Beard

The beard is actually a trap. If a foe tries to grab hold of it, the monk will just send him flying across the screen with a flick of his neck.

So yeah, every part of their body is a weapon of some sort...:jig:

    Re: Monk's Beard

You're halfway right. It is a trap but not like that. It's to hide something. For there is no chin behind the Monk's beard; just another fist.

    Re: Monk's Beard

Don't know if i'll be rolling a monk first up but damn, they did an excellent job on the look. 99% perfect (beard could be half an inch longer).

Easily the best looking character so far.

    Eastern European influence.... genius:worship:.

    Re: Monk's Beard

What annoys me THE MOST is that we shouldn't even be discussing this, if Blizzard had let us customize the characters looks. Hell every new RPG features this, Diablo III disappointed me in this aspect.

The beard looks pretty stupid, yes.

Look at games like Guild Wars, try creating a Monk there and see how many options you got - male, female, any hair/skin color/height. The customization options rock, and I am almost looking forward more for Guild Wars 2 than Diablo III now. :coffee:

*still waiting for a bow based class* :(

BTW, how do female Monks in DIII look like? Might interest me more.

    Re: Monk's Beard

i really like the monk's look( i think his clothes can be better) and his beard gives him the extra seriousness a diablo charactor needs. monk looks like a bad *** wise fighter.

Deep down, you are all wondering if the female monk will have a beard as well. Don't deny it...

Diablo has no customization because the classes really aren't classes, they're real persons in the game world. It's pretty much five people you can pick from, not five career paths.

    YES!
I hate his beard with my life! It just looks SO stupid!

I actually dislike his whole design. He's a monk. Strip him down without all of these tons of dresses and make him clean, shaved and bald.
