    Lost City of the Damned

So this may seem noobish, and it sure feels that way, but where in the world is the damned city of the damned?! I have killed every monster in the plains of despair, the whole map is visible, I have run around it at least 5 times, and I can't find the damn stairs! Anything that maybe I missed?(besides the obvious stairs to the city...)

Man, it has clearly been too long since I played anything that wasn't the pits, meph or baal. Found it after almost an hour of noobness. Please delete this thread or something so I can ignore the shame.

Just go along the wall*. The stairs are usually (very)poorly visible on the minimap.

Typically I turn right in all of Act 4 to find the shortest way to Diablo. Not 100% accurate, but better than 50% in my opinion. Stick to the edge.

Re: Lost City of the Damned

Or Friiser is chanelling his South Park/Johnny Cochrane/Chewbacca Defense.

@Phil, don't worry about it. You're not the first of us to run around looking for the obvious and not seeing it. If I had a nickel...

On the subject of D2 brilliance, I've somehow managed to loose my good LK map. And my good Mephisto map. I just noticed both, and now get to spend several boring minutes rerolling maps. Wheeeeee!!!

Edit/Update: It took me 2 minutes to find a near-perfect Meph map (3 teleports to Durance 3) - and 2 hours to find a mediocre LK map. :p

@Zod, below. I think it's a browser thing. I used to have it happen occasionally with old installs of FireFox, but don't remember it happening in a few months. Closing the browser and starting a new one seemed to solve it for me.

Is it normal that you can't use the arrow keys when in the replies window or do I have some kind of computer virus? edit: weird it's working now.

Re: Lost City of the Damned

The Chewbacca defense is actually very apt in this case. Just think, why would a wookie, an eight foot tall wookie from Kishik, be running around in Hell?! What does this have to do with this case? nothing! it does not make sense!

If chewbacca lived on Endor, you must acquit. The defense rests.

Re: Lost City of the Damned

Yä I always take the wrong direction in ACT4... so I run and run and the stairs leading to the next level is beside the start stairs.

City of the Damned However I always finds fast...but does WPs in ACT5...
I have spent lots of time finding The Frigid Highlands WP (run tele around in the midle of the map all streesed out)

Re: Lost City of the Damned

Funny you should mention that. I almost never activate the Frigid Highlands WP unless I accidentally run right over it while bypassing that area on the way to the underground levels. Same with Act3, often my first WP activated in Act3 is the LK one. There are some I always hit and some I never hit. That gives me a new thread idea.

Re: Lost City of the Damned

Actually. I had a case where I couldn't get to the next area as there was no exit from the map I was on. It was in Act1 when you need to go through the underground passage. I ran around the edge about 8 times, rerolled the map several times but still the same.

I think it had something to do with the case that I hadn't turned in any of the quests.

It was doubly wierd though as I had no mountains at all, it was the regular stone hedge thingy only.

On the account of WPs. I usually get all of them in Act1 and 2. In Act 3 I usually get max half (and I only purposly get the LK WP of the Kurast ones to avoid misscliking when I wanna run LK), Act 4 I usually get all and I always, and I mean always, miss the Fridgid Highlands WP.

Re: Lost City of the Damned

But the underground passage doesn't always spawn on the edges =D Sometimes it spawns as a cave-hole.. An easy way to find the underground passage would just to follow the road.

I ran all over the map. I covered all the middle ground aswell as far as I can remember.
