Ideas For Quests

    Ideas For Quests

    The main problem in Diablo II was that once you finished the game, the only thing you could look forward to was to build another class/build. The story just remained the same. They seemed to have fixed it this time with the class specific quests, but the next time you play the same character there's no new story.

    I think that the optional quests should be made so that you can't finish them all in one playthrough.
    Blizzard could release a new quest update every 5 years that updates the optional quests and adds new ones.
    For multiplayer there could also be party only quests, where you have to play with a friend to do.
    There could have some sort of anti quests where doing one will make you fail the other and earn you the respect and hatred of the helped and non-helped respectively.This status could have an effect in future quests, making the game more player driven.

    All the above if implemented will make a single player that ROCKS!

    I too have been giving this some thought, TheWanderer. Personally I did enjoy Diablo 2 endgame, since I'm a hapless collector and end up doing a lot of MF. But I surely can understand your frustration.

    However I'm not so sure on your ideas. Introducing new quests every 5 years seems a little odd. Certainly unheard of. I'm not so sure this would appeal to Blizzard who would have to provide new content with such a large time span. Better perhaps if we think something that can work off the box.

    Well, I actually like the idea of new content. I don't know how the Diablo III mechanic would handle it, but Diablo 2 definately had new content released in the 1.10 and subsequent patches i.e. The DClone Annhilus world Event, and Uber Tristram, tons of new items, synergies etc. I'm sure if they tinkered a bit here, and pulled a lever there, it would be fairly easy to get some nice varied new content in the form of quests. Remains to be seen how DIII is comprised though before I indulge in idyllic speculation :scratchchin:

    I don't know if it was Bashiok who said that there'll be some ultra-rare random quests; which will give some nice surprises even for those who have played the game for years.
    Also the class-specific quests should help :thumbup:

    This is a forum for quests, not speculation on whether or not they will exist. My idea is to have all 7 characters from Diablo 2 with their own areas as quests. Also, I think it would be cool to face Diablo 3 characters in Diablo 3 due to the fact of manipulation. I also think it would be cool to have side quests like rescuing someone or defeating some uber monster.

    If you go by how D2 was, I'd like to have some longer quests that span through all the acts. I don't know exactly what, but when you finally solve it, it should feel like a huge accomplishment.

    Yeah man, they already did that. They were called Diablo and Diablo II respectively. I get what you mean but you basically are talking about the game as a whole.

    Uhm no that's not what I meant. I meant something beside "kill diablo" or whatever. There is a diffrence in a story line and a quest. What quest spanned through the whole game in the first two games?

    I'm pretty sure what he meant were more quests like the one in act 3 where you had to gather all the organs or in act 2 when you had to get the cube, staff, and headpiece. In other words, long quests that take more time and traveling to different areas to complete. IMO a quest should be more like this. This separates them more from random exploring/killing and progressing through the game.

    some quests i'd like to see...

    Battle: One quest I really want to see is an all out battle. After you accept the quest you'd rush to a location where npc allies are fighting against an army of demons. (think of the barbarians at the bloody foothills in act V..but much, much larger and better).

    Escort: Another quest would be a lengthy escort mission. A whole new element is added to the game when you have another's life to look after. Something along the lines of having to take someone to multiple locations to perform some ritual or something.

    Rescue: Hopefully something similar to rescuing the barbarians in Act V, except maybe they'd fight with you once they were free...or just flea if they're common folk.

    Capture: Similar to escort, but here you must go out and capture a certain target (not sure how), and then defend the captive from swarms of enemies trying to set him free as you drag him back to town or to some other location.

    Basically, I want more than go to X and kill Y then return for your reward.

    Thanks, that was what I meant to convey. I'm just stupid with words. ;)

    And I like your quest suggestions. The Battle one could be amazing. :)

    Like following King Leoric through the dungeon except that the dungeon is over the course of the game.

    I think a cool quest would be, huge strain on engine, have two huge armies. Angels, humans, magical creatures, etc vs. demons, humans, undead, etc. You'd fight them and you'd traverse over terrain in real time fighting with traps being set and it actually being like a real battle, but you're in every part of it. Meanwhile, if you don't fight in it, the demons slowly advance down the Acts destroying in their wake until you have to confront them.

    you all got good ideas i like the fact that you guys got some great ideas and stuff but i like the fact that you got long quest to conquer the acts like in act 2 or 3 its better and its not like act 1 with just andy in their
