I'm just wondering if anybody here has any knowledge about the acts.

How far into act 1 is the Skeleton King? Is that the end of Act 1?

How many acts are there? how long are they compared to D2?

    any ideas?

    There are 4 acts.

Skeleton King is not the end of act 1, not even half of it.

    4 acts.

No one really knows for sure, but I think each act might be longer and in way more detail than the D2 acts.

SK is about a 1/3 of the way through Act 1, with the end of Act 1 fighting The Butcher.(Assumptions, but I think datamining has proved it)

Act 4 is going to be a full act right? None of that D2 half-act with three waypoints stuff...?

I hope so. If it's a half act, then the three other acts should be bigger to compensate

The going story a while back was D3 is a bit shorter than D2, but without the pointless trudges though crap areas like Kurast jungle and the other areas I don't even remember. Less filler, more content is a good thing yes?

They're aiming at a similar narrative structure (in terms of pacing) as in D2. However, they didn't pull it off in D2 (mostly because Act IV was rushed), so that may not mean much.

They liked the long build up to the final act, and then having the act be short but intense.

They also have their internal rules, if content is too long, it isn't always a good thing, especially considering you will have to play through it four times.

Judging from the datamined info, it's the smallest among all other acts but the settings appear to be pretty intense.

Also you can see the huge difference in monster designs after the Armaddon was revealed, I think act 4 is the most epic and grand.

I agree that D2's Chaos Santuary and LOD's Worldstone dungeon was a complete disappointment.

I hope it's longer than D2. I loved D2 but, yeah ... most of Act 3 felt like drudgery. They're speaking of more bosses to farm and more pockets of high treasure class monsters; creatures with a higher IQ and all that. I hope it's true.

I'm hoping the the Diablo community get's more love from Blizzard this time arround. Standing by all these years and seeing Bliz expand on WOW. Each time I'd see another ad for WOW I'd just be scratching my head. Like ... didn't anybody like Diablo but me?

... and D2 only got one expansion. Maybe this time we'll get a few years of attention before they hang it all up?

From what I've read there are two expansions currently planned... that could always change though.

For my taste, the Kurast jungles were the best part of D2, and IMO a bigger world IS better, unless of course it is poorly designed ;) However, we will see. I find that other people's playthrough times tend to not reflect mine... which tend to be longer (I'm a completist, ok?! No barrel unsmashed!) so I'm withholding judgment on how long it actually is.

Good comparison is titan quest game here, where acts were really bit too long, felt dull to run through all of it, especially multiple times. Smaller but more packed areas, seem better from replaying the game perspective.

Act2 and 3 are the biggest, there are many random maps, I can only presume those are random quests, like what we've seen in the beta.

    Good stuff.

I think it will be better than D2 because we won't get 1 environment per act anymore.

Exactly. "Acts" doesn't simply mean "environment" like in D2. I'm really looking forward to what they can throw at us in terms of area design.

No, they said it is the shortest Act in the game. I don't have the Blizzard quote.

If I recally correctly, they said a month ago that it takes about 20-25 hours to get through on the first play through due mainly tot he fact that you will be slowing down to play with stuff, read stuff, etc. I think they said 15-18 hours for a Normal Play through after that.

Actually Jay said the acts feel about the same size wise as in d2. He also said the act 4 will be similar to d2, shorter and 'more story speific' .. don't remember the exact phrasing. So please stop telling people nonsense about how huge the acts are, just because you would like them to be so.

Maybe silly old eyes got the better of you, but when was it that I specifically state that act 2 and 3 will be "huge"?

When did I even imply that it will be bigger than D2?

Still sour about the previous argument I see.

Stop spouting nonsense here, and go get some basic English lessons.

What? He literally said none of those things, he just said that Act 4 is the smallest act like in D2, but the setting would be more epic. All of wich is true....

All I know is I can't wait. LOL. Every day is like torture. I rewatch the videos for each class morning and night and take note of different things I see in them; the environments, the monsters, the treasures that drop, the skills, the items worn by the characters.

I'm into the barb, the Wizard and the Witch Doctor. But, I think I'm gonna roll the barb first. I'm about to start a new thread about skills
