Does AR matter for CHarged Strike?

    Hey guys,
can someone answer me this question:
When I attack with my Java with Charged Strike, does my AR matter, since there is no CTH dispayed on the Char-Screen?

    cheers

Nope. Haven't you noticed that the bolts are always released?

I actually noticed the difference ^^

Sometimes she stabs the opponent, but there are no bolts.
And sometimes it even looked like the opponent is blocking it with his shield ...

Well I'll do some research, it may be that it happened because of lag issues / desync or sth like that

Actually it doesn't auto hit. It allways releases the bolts, but the melee attack does an AR check, and can be blocked.

There is no attack rating check for charged strike, it auto hits...

Can I have some proofs on this. To back up my statement, copied from another site (wasn't sure if linking the thread was against the rules so I'll just copy paste a bit).

"For power strike, nothing is auto-hit. You have an AR check when you attack, and you need to hit in order to transmit the skill's damage.

For charged strike, you always get the charged bolts and they always hit. However, for the spear itself, you still have an AR check.

For lightning strike, you always get the chain lightning and it always hits. However, for the spear itself, you still have an AR check."

I think taxcut doesn't know about (or just wasn't referring to) the melee part. According to what I've seen and the Amazon Basin wiki, Uppis is correct.
Scrap that, the wording wasn't very clear. I know the jav part of LF is auto-hit but can be blocked, and the same is probably true for CS.

As an aside, tests done by Onderduiker indicate that you should always attack your target from the left/right/top/bottom. If you aim diagonally you hit them with half as many bolts. (This holds true for size 2 targets which afaik includes players)

The melee part of charged strike will always hit unless it is blocked, dodged, evaded, or avoided... The lightning aspect is a seperate event...

It is not an attack rating based skill... Same with Lightning Fury and Guided arrow...

Bolts are always released on attack, regardless of whether or not it is successful: only Weapon Block, Avoid or Evade can prevent them from applying damage.

The javelin's attack damage does require a successful attack to be applied: if a hit-check fails, or blocking, Weapon Block, Dodge or Evade are successful then the javelin's attack damage isn't applied (this includes Charged Strike skill damage, which is also added to the javelin's attack damage).

This is easy for anybody to verify by attacking an Immune to Lightning target that cannot block, like Hungry Dead in the Burial Ground in Hell, or attacking a player who cannot block in any way (use cold or poison damage to clearly indicate successful attacks).

The blankness of the character screen is not a reliable indicator: it's blank for Blade Fury as well, and that definitely requires a hit-check.

No because the main thing is the bolts and they hit every time.
