I've now taken all five characters to the end of Normal difficulty. All characters ended up on clvl 32, but the DW seemed to just fly through the difficulty taking only 16 hours 25 minutes (although he didn't full clear the second tier Act 4, but that would have only added 10 - 15 minutes). The Monk was next in 19h 30m, followed by DH in 19h 43, then the Wiz at 20h even. Last was the Barb at 20h 40m, but to be somewhat fair to him, he was the first character I took into Act 1 and there was a bit of a learning curve. The Elite kills were also fairly similar with a range of 43 over the five characters (528 - 485). Taking the Barb out of the equation, the times taken reflect the ease at which the characters moved through this difficulty. The WD was by far the easiest and the Wiz the hardest, with the Barb coming in between the Monk and the DH. I enjoyed the game play, but all the cut-scenes were driving me crazy. If I don't finish the game, it will be because of them, they completely spoil the enjoyment of playing for me. The most difficult non act-boss I found to be Something the Keywarden in Act 4. I enjoyed Act 3 the most, especially the "raise the catapults" quest. I ended up with seven Legendary items including Gibbering Gemstone. So, onward into Nightmare!

Yeah... I'm pretty sure that the majority of people find the story to be frustrating and poorly implemented at times. It's pretty sad that in investing so much time into making a real story for D3, they shoehorned it in as often as possible and interrupt whatever flow you've developed for yourself. ...And the story's not even that good, IMO. The fact that it's just as invasive on further playthroughs is quite horrible. It's disgusting how often I'm jabbing for either the Space bar or Esc key to get people to shut up and let me play the game.

Still. Despite the story remaining as upfront as it does, the game play does do some justice to the six or seven years of development. Glad that you've jumped into the game recently, Nix, even if the experience hasn't been fully enjoyable. Hope you continue to find a few good tidbits buried within every now and then!

Esp. since if you got a shrine or skill active, the time counter keeps on running down all the time you watch the cinematics before boss fights...

btw, the Keywarden in Act IV is even more nasty, because of the Terror ability (life regeneration is cut by 75% over 8 seconds)...so beware of him! By far the most dangerous encounter by now for me (esp. in HC...)

I hadn't noticed that. All these interruptions are not game breakers, but they sure raise the frustration level and notch every time they happen. Early thoughts on NM, the normal monsters are still ok, but the champion and uniques are significantly racked up. Whose idea was that sweeping laser anyway?!?

All five SC characters are lvl 51 and have completed Nightmare. All characters have taken between 37 hours 24 minutes and 36 hours 47 minutes, except for the WD again who has cleared everything in a little under 32 hours. Even considering the difference in time played, my WD is still only 15 elite kills from the top elite kills score. I have also started a HC DH, she has had a couple of scares, but she was able to take down Normal Butcher, so she can now venture into Act 2. I've come to the conclusion that I hate Act 1 and love Act 3!

Really? I love Act 1 always have even in Diablo 2 it was my favourite Act. I wish they soon do something about the mob-density so one can play Act 1 and get the same out of it as Act 3.

    I hate Act 2.... alot!

I've got three characters through Act 1 Hell and having serious enthusiasm issues. Act 1 Inferno looks like it will be the breaking point for me!

Give it at least until you get all your characters to 60, and then you can try every build possible. Some are quite fun (for me anyway).

Also, the game will likely become more interesting as you find blacksmith plans and more items. Given the levels on your characters weapons, it looks like you're using the GAH. I'd recommend using it very sparingly, which it also looks like you're doing, so keep that up, I'd say.

Maybe you should try something different. Maybe you should focus on one character for a while. Once you finish a quest, you can run an area without any story cut-scenes. Maybe you just need a break from the forced story mode? Finishing Hell with your favorite character and just doing some MF runs for a while might be what you need.

I was planning to get a the characters to Inferno, they specialising in one to take forward. I'm finding the WD the easiest, but that doesn't mean it'll be the most fun!

Ok, All five characters have not made it through Hell difficulty, they are all level 60 and have not yet reached their first paragon level. The majority of characters have taken around 50 hours to get there, but the WD continues to be the fastest doing it in about 45 hours. All Elite kills are still well clustered ranging from 1485 to 1440. My HC career is still moving ahead with my DH making it to NM at level 32. She's had only a few minor scares, so I'm quite please with her. Up until now I have been taking all characters along concurrently, but it's time for a change of tack. I'm going to run a character through to the end of Inferno (or as far as they can go), since the WD has had the least trouble until now, he's the first cab off the rank.

DrBombay, my WD, is the first to beat Inferno Diablo. He made it to level 60(6) and other than a brief period in Act 3 when I tried a few new ideas, and got my arse well and truly kicked, he played without too many problems. He took 58 hours 17 minutes and killed 1970 Elites.

I am really glad that is over with. Over the last few weeks I've really grown to dislike this game. In the end it took almost 316 hours to finish Inferno with the five characters. All five were pretty much full clears without any real redoing of areas and I thing that shows in the tight grouping of the elite kills 1986 - 1918. In the end the times spread out a bit, with there being a ten hour difference between the fastest character (the WD at about 58 hours) and the slowest (the Wiz at about 68). The Monk came in at about 60.5 hours, the Barb at about 63.5 and the DH at about 65 hours. I think the waiting finally got to me; waiting for cut scenes, waiting for cooldowns, I always seemed to be waiting. The game simple just didn't seem to flow and I constantly had my rhythm broken. It seemed that it was only the first part of Act 3 that you got a full head of steam up. So, what now? Perhaps trying to raise my Achievement score my finding a few bits and pieces I missed and a bit more HC, most likely I'll go back to D2. I'll wait to see what future patches and the possible expansion have to offer before I do anything too drastic with my characters.
