Looks like the ones that have seen combat know who is the better choice.

So many problems with this post:

    1) This is a fairly small sampling of a fairly small group (retired generals and rear admirals)

    2) Out of the half dozen random generals I checked for not one was on this list so it is hardly comprehensive

    3) I don't know where you got the list so I don't know if it is a random sampling or just ones picked to display a desired result

    4) The military has hisotically been a republican strong hold, officers especially. We have no way of knowing if it is a party line vote or actually favoring Bush specifically

    5) Generals and admirals may not be as forth coming about supporting a non incumbant as it could potentially effect their career. This is doubly true when their name is specifically put on it.

EDIT: I'm also ammused by the way that the Bush list is further fluffed up by changing the format (location on a different line) to make that part of the list 50% longer. I assume that was done by the site you got this from.

    Flag Officers That Support Me

    Cap'n Crunch (active)
    Captain Morgan (active)
    Captain Planet (retired)
    Major Payne (retired)
    Colonel Sanders (active)

Now, I ask you all who has the better officers backing him?

Flag officers are the "elite" amongst the military. Their words carry more weight.

These are the ones that have openly endorsed a candidate.

Several websites. Bush's list came off of bushcountry.org and Kerry's list came off of a google.com search

Just ask any of them. It's Bush specifically.

These are all retired officers. Their career isn't an issue.

See, no problems with this post unless you're against Pres. Bush.

Interesting that it is so lopsided, but

    1. High-level officers in the military offer only a very narrow survey range. What about economists, environmentalists, biologists, military grunts (my father is not particularly happy about getting sent to Iraq a second time for this war, especially because the last time he was there the Iraqis became much more hostile the longer we were there), etc?

    2. They could have a multitude of different, and possibly nefarious, reasons for supporting Bush. Maybe they're all fairly rich, maybe they're all scared of getting drafted, maybe they all drank with him in the past, maybe they have been brainwashed by the military to always support the commander in chief, etc.

    3. They are/were inside war, and therefore might not have an objective opinion about it. They may be more knowledgeable about actual warfare, but personal involvement usually translates into a very unobjective and closed-minded point of view.

According to dictionary.com, a flag officer is "An officer in the navy or coast guard holding a rank higher than captain, such as rear admiral, vice admiral, or admiral." It looks like everybody on your list is retired, so is the position of flag officer only given to retired people? I really don't know much about it.

Hmm, looks like I just repeated a lot of what dantose wrote. Oh well.

Oh, and the only one I really know about (and have a lot of respect for) is Clark.

I also just noticed that oddly enough only the upper two flag officer grades are listed for Kerry but all 4 are listed for Bush.

Kerry's list also is missing reserve and National guard components.

Gee, I sure hope that wasn't a way to skew the numbers!

So what you're saying is that this was not a random sampling nor even a study but a comparison of two different lists listing different things from different places and is thus completely meaningless?

Oh, God, is it too late to change my mind? I stayed undecided as long as Ann Coulter would allow me to, but when I made up my mind, I didn't yet have access to how a random selection of a random fraction of America's flag officers were going to vote. Please tell me it's not too late to change sides, I beseech you! I'm now in favor of large military and small everything else because the military is being misrepresented as suggesting I do so, I swear!

Based on the flag officers, I'm going with Braveicus. Although Captain Kangaroo and Sargeant Slaughter were absent from that list. I can only assume they support terrorism.

Nope. Captain Kangaroo is busy guarding the Pearly Gates and Sgt. Slaughter's location is classified.

For the sake of arugement, why should my hypothetical vote be influenced by a load of retired flag officers over, say, my greengrocer?

Oh, and I am waiting to see how Commander Keen calls it before I make a decision.

Freemason made a new thread to rebutt all the "General SoAndSo (ret) supports John Kerry, used as proof that:

    1. George Bush has screwed up the war effort, and ex-generals are candid enough to say so.

    2. John Kerry is popular with the military.

If you weren't making those statements about generals this thread doesn't apply to you. :)

    Ahh, cheers Steve :).

I just though that Freemason was using it as a 'look at these people that all support Bush, and so you should too' type thread. I guess it is getting difficult to tell them apart now :spy: .

In short: Who the **** cares?

Smeg, can't you go for 24 hours without posting an I-Hate-Kerry thread? It's getting incredibly old. You're not changing anyone's opinion and it's only showing that you're more of a Republican zealot than everyone thought before. Next thing you'll be telling us that the Pope has stated that Kerry is the anti-Christ. Honestly, these mastrubatory God-I-Love-Bush-sooo-soooo-much do jack all and in this case have already been shown to be skewed and invalid. You don't even provide accurate information, but only that which supports you irrational zealotry. I'm starting to think you're actually mentally imbalanced you're so rabid on the subject. So please, do us a favour and spare us the brain tumours this crap makes and try to post something at least with a valid point other than how much you hate Kerry. We get it.

But remember, if anyone posts a thread about Bush, it's 'irrational hatred'. Just remember that guys. Double standards for the price of one!

What was 'anti-Kerry' or negative about his post?

"The people in charge of the military know how much Kerry sucks! Just look at this fabricated list!" as well as the constant attempts to get people to vote Bush, as if anyone cares or will change their current opinion.

Smeg, this is almost starting to border advertising.

I'm really looking forward to this election is over.

If it was in response to a remark made from a democrat on the site, how is that not allowed? Does the site only allow one side (democrats) to be presented?
