    Cannot connect to Battle.Net?

After not playing Diablo II for some years, i decided to go install it, and start it back up again. I wanted to go play online with some friends over battle.net, but it seems that i cannot do that.

Whenever i atempt to connect to battle.net, i recieve this message:

    Unable to connect
    Unnable to connect to battle.net.

If using a modem, you may need to connect to your internet service provider before connecting to battle.net. For ore information please visit www.battle.net/support/errormessages/

Now, i have gone there, and i cannot seem to be able to fix my problem. I turned off my firewalls, forwarded ports, reset my realm list, yet nothing seems to be working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

try turning off the port forwarding options on your router and cable/dsl modem
they should only be needed if your hosting games on open and tcp/ip

Seriously. You have been banned for like 5-15 mins, or even more. :=)

Please don't post unless you're trying to be helpful

Severe - have you changed ISP/equipment since you last played?

Read the 7 million topics on temp bans, temp restrictions, etc...

If those don't describe your behavior, look for threads about resetting your server list.

    Re: Cannot connect to Battle.Net?

I bought the digital versions of D2 and LoD from the European Blizzard shop tonight and now when I have installed them I can't connect either. I tried the same things as the OP.

Edit: Seems I can connect to the US servers though. Guess I have to play on US East instead of Europe.

    Re: Cannot connect to Battle.Net?

    I'm not sure this post is still active but here's hoping . . . . . .

Okay, here is my problem. I bought the game (Diablo II and Expansion) a number of years ago. Decided to start playing again recently. I installed the game, used the cd key I got with game, accessed Battle.net no problem.

Then I decided to get my friend into the game. So I installed the game on her comp, and gave her my key. Now, of course, we can't play on Battle.net with the same key (duh), so I got online (ebay) and purchased another key.

Here's the problem, when I reinstalled my game with the newly purchased key and then I tried to access Battle.net a small window opened but before I could read what is says an error box comes up saying "Unable to connect" blah blah blah.

Is it the new cd key that is the problem? Do I need to complain to the person I purchased it from?

    Re: Cannot connect to Battle.Net?

do not trust ebay for getting game keys
best to buy keys from blizzard store or get a unopened boxed copy
occationally gamestop/ebgames has battle chest for $20

if it installed the key is fine for sp and lan, but the error could be from a key ban or lan/wan problems

    do you get error (#)?
