Probably named the thread the same the last time as well, heh ;)

After having pretty much given up on D3, I decided to give D2 another spin. I played a lot before and during 1.10, but really only dipped my toes after 1.13 came out. I've done some research which lead to a couple of questions I was hoping you'd be able to help out with.

I usually start out with trusty meteorb sorc which has proven very efficient on a budget. Are there any new fun builds/discoveries that don't require a bag of HRs thrown at it to work?

Never got around to do the ubers. Is paladin with cb considered a viable option?

How noticable is the increased rune droprate? Do people actually see them drop now?

So far I've gathered that the ladder reset should be some time mid-november and I've also figured out that running two copies using sandboxie is the best way to mule (thanks Archone). I like to play self-found so I don't expect to get extremely rich, but I'm hoping to try something new at some point during the reset (might also trade provided I find something useful.. )

Any tips, tricks or recommandations appreciated :)

It's pretty much the same thing. I personally like Blizzballer or Pure Blizzard better tho.
As far as I know Smiter, loaded with enough CB and a source of Life Tap is the best Uber Tristam runner.
They are A LOT more common these days. I don't really know how things are in Bnet, but in Single Player it takes about of a week of casual playing to get say an Infinity from LK Superchests. It is very likely to see a HR, even if you run the moo moo farm.

    I hate positioning meteors.

I like to go 20 blizz, 20 cm, 20 glacial spike, 20 ice blast, 1 frozen armor, 1 hydra, 1 fire mastery, 1 energy shield, 1 static field

takes 85 points. blizzard mauls everything and i use hydra on cold immune. Lot less stressful to play imo.

    Thanks guys :)

I've tried blizz, but I just don't like it for some reason. Iirc, it's also pretty mana intensive(?)

I'm thinking about trying a melee class. Guess I'lll see what runes show up and take it from there. LK superchest runs weren't a thing the last time I played, so guess I'll look into that :)

For melee classes, Frenzy Barb is like melee on steroids and is quite doable untwinked. Plus the his grunting is pretty intense.

If you don't mind hybrids, Kicker/Trapper hybrids are dirt cheap to matriarch and diverse as well. Plus she's sexy as hell.

A Lightning Fury / Plague Javelin Amazon or a Trap Assassin are good starting characters as well. An LF 'zon can complete the game with a weapon from Normal, and has excellent crowd control with the Valkyrie, Decoy, and Slow Missles. The Assassin can shop for the best weapons with a little patience, can use Fade to compensate for bad resists, and has excellent crowd control with Cloak of Shadows and Mind Blast. Two of my favorite alternatives to a starting sorc. Good luck!

    Thanks :)

Had incredible luck with the forges and got an Um from NM and Gul from hell. The Um went towards trading for some decent MF gear here on the forums so I should be able to farm sets and uniques reasonably well

Also got a Gul from pits, but I'm not really sure what to use them for. They don't seem to very popular or used for anything in particular so the only thing I can think of is making a vex for a hoto. It just seems like such a terrible waste.. Any ideas?

    Got my Hoto :) 35ar, guess I can't complain.

Bit stuck on what to aim for next and in particular what shield. Is spirit monarchs what all the cool kids are doing these days? Currently using a whitstan's/max block build as I found the shield early, but I'm tempted to go for a spirit as I just found a 4os monarch.

Also looking for options on armor. Gota vipermagi I'm considering upping (29ar). I can't really think of anything else other than finding Tals (+amulet/belt) or coming across a ton of HRs very soon.

    Anyoen got ideas?

I like to use spirit monarchs on my sorcs. The FCR is great and the resists are solid too. It's def better than whitstans.

Some people like using skullders for the MF.

On my sorcs, I go full tals, spirit monarch, war travs, double nagels, magefists

The highest def on whitstans without sockets, is 154. Non superior Monarch has at most 148.

Id say use Mosers Blessed Circle instead, for resistances. If you cant equip a spirit monarch that is.

I always mf with a pure cold Sorceress, Blizzard. With Oculus, CoH, Spirit, Shako, mf amulet, mf rings, chanceguard, goldwrap and wartravelers.
She reaches the 63fcr breakpoint, and does enough dmg to do Ancient Tunnels below the 45sec mark. Always. And has at least 600mf.

Went for the spirit. Lack of hit recovery was killing me more than anything else anyway. Even rolled a 35 fcr on my first go :)

My MF gear is starting to look decent and ended up with using skullders for now and I can kill pretty fast at around 300+ MF/63+ fcr. My biggest problem currently is my merc. I haven't had much luck with armors in general and he dies a lot faster than I'd like. Guess I'll have to go hit some hell bosses for an armor or scrape together the runes for a Stone. Fortitude or CoH won't happen this season

Smoke is pretty useful on a merc before you get something like Treachery. It's really a first world problem... Getting a HotO so quickly but no smoke/treachery? o_O
