lycander's flank (gloombat boss, flayer dungeon level 1)

    Misc images:

    Talic is going down!
    Grrr!
    Baal is going down!
Is this a joke? It happened to me when I was uploading images =P

This is my first barbarian that I've made patriarch that hasn't been using the Immortal King set or had help from other players. I played in MP games in normal and nm but went completely solo through hell. I didn't like the IK barb because the one I had was slow and quite weak and I didn't like the short range of the maul (2). I've been looking for a weapon with the potential to make a ww barb that would effective as the IK set. I finally I got one after I found the runes from my countess runs and made oath out of an old 4os eth balrog blade from my socketed item stash. Got a quite lucky ed roll actually, 324 of 340 max % ed. For the duress armour I took an old hellforge UM and another socketed item from my socketed item stash.

When playing the barb I played with p8 in normal and nightmare and p1 in hell because I liked the feeling of just kicking every monster's butt, something I've never done before with a meelee build since none of my earlier ones has been this powerful =D

It was really nice to be able to use the endgame weapon as early as level 53. He was somewhere in act2 nightmare when he hit level 53 and he could take down enemies there with one whirlwind hit on p8. Then five levels later I could use the duress and get rid of the "leathery" look of duriel's shell and replace it with shiny metal from the balrog skin :D

There were no problems in hell, I killed most enemies in 1-2 hits or at least in one whirl. Berserk took care of any PI's, some mana burn / PI ghosts could be annoying but there was nothing I couldn't handle. The hardest thing was actually the levels about 30-48 because I didn't have a good weapon to use before swordguard that becomes avaliable at level 48.

Have I missed to mentioned something or is it anything anything that you find indistinct? Feel free to ask of course! But remember, it's the first time I post a mat/pat thread so be nice =)

Why did you decide to make Oath in a two-handed sword? It seems to me that the item is better suited for Zealot's. Either way, that's a really nice weapon.

    Anyways, congrats on the pat.

No matter what the other members bashing your ultra-sexy sword say, I still think your barb looks killer  Look at how the sword matches the helm! Great fashion eh . You say you one hit or two hit monsters? Don't you play on /p8 n00b?

    Congratulations Anyways. :uhhuh:

ALL elite sword will hit las breakpoint of WW if you make OATH in them. Also being ethereal (indestructible ^^) they have a bit less requisites.

Ofc I drool if I think on a dual OATH eth scourge barb using either WW or Frenzy ^^.

GG asdfgah, nice one. Balrog blade gives +2 to karma and +3 stylepoints, so you succeeded honourably imo :)

No surprising deviation from the WW barb setup? Since you didn't list the skill pt distribution, I assumed so... Oh, and wouldn't fortitude armour be even nicer? If you've got the runes that is :p

Scourges have absolutely lousy base damage, and range isn't everything either.

Yeah, but max damage goes skyrocket and IMO it has a lot of style points ^^.

I agree that scourges arent the best for WW, but not everyone must use dual Berserker axes, isn't it?

I made it in a two handed sword because I think it's most effective and fun to play a ww barb, two weapons or weapon/shield barb simply isn't really my style. An other reson is that the 4os eth balrog blade was the one of my socketed items that was most fit for an oath and the build. It turned out to be much better than i expected :D

Thanks, ultra-sexy is a fair description of it ;) I love that eth look.

I also think that would be really cool on a frenzy barb, I would like to see how an eth oath scourge would be like. Most weapons look cool with oat because of the eth look =)

Oh I knew I forgot somethig but I thought this would be enough (you assumed right though):

Anyway I did a quite basic ww barb build, one point in all useful skill and maxing "the big four":

Shout, Battle orders, Sword mastery and Whirlwind. I did as far as to putting one point in all useful skills (natural resistances, taunt etc.) and maxing whirlwind, battle orders and shout and almost sword mastery. I think he has 17 points in sword mastery. Whirlwind was maxed first because when I first got the skill I was really in desperate need of some damage. Tthis was in the levels 30-48 before I could use swordguard as I mentioned before. Then was going to max the rest of the big four in the order battle orders, shout and sword mastery, even if it wasn't maxed at level 81. I think I woudl have placed remaining points into natural resistances because that was about the only thing he was lacking, even if resists never was a problem for teh_LiZarD

    Thanks for your replies everyone!
