The environments in DIII don't seem to get the attention they deserve.

I was seeking ways to add more architecture to my portfolio, and luckily, DIII saves the day again.
I took an existing view of Caldeum and decided to try and render it from a different view. Those 'balloon-things' looked interesting. I still have no idea what they're supposed to be, but it makes for a fun image.

Stunning work indeed, great job on the colors and perspective.

I dream to see how they will render this city in-game .. hope it is something equally epic and not disappointing like the cities in D2. XD

I honestly thought that was new bliz work. Looks like Peter Lee's background work, with the slightly oil paint tinge to it.

Do you have a higher resolution version of that picture Softshack? I would love to use that for my background if that is ok with you. Got any size 1680x1050 or larger?

Thanks everyone for the compliments! I wasn't expecting this piece to be confused with official art.

The way the environments are currently turning out, I believe that this game will look spectacular. Seriously, I've set some of the in-game shots (without or with few characters visible) as my desktop. I wish they would release more shots of just environments sans characters -they're so beautifully done.

NatSelection, I'm honored that you would want to use this image as a background. Unfortunately, this (same as my other pieces so far released) is as big as I feel comfortable releasing.

I can't wait to see what will be revealed at Blizzcon! I'm dying for new updates, screenshots, art, videos, whatever!

Q: Did you do it all on a computer. If so how lond did it take to get to that lvl of quality?

Holy cow, its way too beautiful. Did you ever make a tutorial on lanscape art somewhere? I want to see it!!
