I'm sure this topics been beaten to death, but has anyone heard any new updates on possible system requirements? I'm looking to buy a new PC and want to make sure it can support the game.
I just ordered a new PC, it will be my first ever gaming computer. My goal in making it was for it to be able to handle D3 and SC3 when they came out, so we are in the same boat.
OPERATING SYSTEM: Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition SP1, 64-Bit
MEMORY: 6GB Tri-Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz - 6 DIMMs
HARD DRIVE: 640GB - 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache
MONITOR: 23" Dell S2309W Full HD Widescreen Monitor
VIDEO CARD: ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB
SOUND CARD: Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio
Well, that's a bit overkill. That's a little under the system I have now. But ordering it...from Dell? You're probably spending at least $1,500 (USD) more than you would by building it and you're getting crappy components (the motherboard and RAM in particular).
From what we've seen, I'd say it's a fair assumption that D3 would run okay on any mid-to-low-end dual core/x-2 machine.
edit: I do like HP's monitors though. They're my favorite.
The total price is under $1400. Do you think the video card would hold up with games like COD, D3 and GTAIV? The 6 GB memory and the Intel i7-920 2.66 ghz is more than enough, correct?

With a dell system, especially on such new tech, the video card is the least of your concerns.
Well, besides the video card my system is similar. I like nVidea and I prefer more... brand name ram.
I can tell you that I was recently able to compress a video while 10 man raiding in wow; with the settings on ultra (hint, buy the biggest aftermarket cpu cooler that can fit in your case... i7's are HOT!)
I built my pc with the same hopes (SC2 and D3). There's no way to know for sure, but blizzard is excellent at insuring a wide range of hardware can be used to play their games (if not at the highest settings). Traditionally 2year old hardware has little problems running the initial release, and xpacks ramp up the reqs.
You're all crazy. SC2 and D3 will run on any system that can run WoW well. Do you honestly think that your super high-end systems are going to be what Blizzard is going to require their players to have? No, they're going to have similar but perhaps slightly higher system requirements than WoW. Duh.
Quit using threads like these just to post how great your new system is. Go brag somewhere else.
