I was watching the gameplay trailer on the official D3 site, and I noticed the Thousand Pounder drops two items: one a normal "Chest Armor" (the video must have been made in really early stages of development if they're naming everything so plainly), and the other item appears to be of the color purple, as it may appear in WoW.
Can anyone confirm official information regarding it (I'm sure I'm not the first to notice this)? Has any info been leaked regarding purple items' 'Class', as in Rare/Unique/Ethereal?
that's not a bad idea i guess. it was sometimes hard to tell the difference between rare and unique items (for instance, if you were on an unfamiliar pc). perhaps they'll show a difference between ethereal and socketed? or perhaps not.
I've looked at the trailer several times. You'll notice that when the barb gets his new axes, they have purple names. For the trailer, purple meant magic, but they probably changed it back to blue by Blizzcon.
I want them to stick with their color scheme. Grey: inferior, White: Normal, Blue: Magic, Yellow: Rare, Gold: unique, Green: Set. It's what we're used to, although I agree that Yellow and Gold should be a little more different.
I've looked again. The staff and axes are definitely different colors. What could this mean? I theorize it is a new item type, perhaps used in the new customization system that's been hinted.
