I'm a huge fan of the lore for all the three franchises, much like MedievalDragon is, but the slightly darker Diablo lore is especially interesting.
I have started to transcribe the manuals into the Wiki together with MD, and you can find them in the D2 Category:Lore page, D3 Category:Lore page, and it's not completely organized yet, so no complaints, please =P
The plan is to have them in the D3 Wiki only, and link to the D3 wiki from the D2 one. Making the final list like this:
is the hellfire manual worth putting into the lore page? i cant say i remember the hellfire manual at all but i thought that game was ignored in the diablo universe?
anyway as for the rest, love it. i too am big on lore, i mean i actually liked the story in d1 and tried my best to care in d2. with all the work you are putting into the wiki it will help me catch up so to speak since it has been so long, plus the diablo books which i have not read yet. so anyway thanks for all the work you are putting in
I know Hellfire is pretty much parallel to Diablo I, and I think Blizzard's stance on these things usually is that any type of official material, such as authorized expansions, are part of the lore.
Either way, I was at home, no internet connection, so I transcribed most of it. Some spell descriptions left, and I'll get it up just so it's up. It's almost cringeworthy, some of it, but still fun to read. The D1 manual has lots of pics that are not up now and might never be, but the Hellfire one is almost void of pics.
If anyone have a source saying that Hellfire is NOT part of the Diablo Universe, make sure to speak up =)
With story and feeling, I think you'll love D3. The feeling, setting and a lot of stuff is more inspired by D1 than D2, in my opinion.
And for the work, there isn't the same bottleneck of html as with the old (quite exhaustive, besides lore) D2 guide section, so anyone can help. Even if it's only grammar, it's still awesome =)
If anyone has read the books, perhaps they would be willing to make a story synopsis of them, and we can add that to the sources in DiabloWiki?
It would certainly be quite interesting to know. I'm fairly certain they said it was ok. Considering it doesn't mess up any other Diablo Lore, there isn't any reason not to.
Added Diablo II Manual to both the wikis. If you got some time to add links to significant names, or would-be articles, that would be awesome. If not, then I still recommend reading it (warning, it's quite long). IT has lots of lore in it you might not have thought about!
