+ all items

probably talked about, i forget if it was or maybe i missed it, anyway my question is have we seen or has it been confirmed that we will still have items that add to all skills? reason i wonder is with the massive amount of passives in the game i can see most builds throwing 1 point into almost all passives and letting the plus all take them home. will they put a cap on how many bonus skills you can get?

again if already talked about i am sorry, i tried a search but i didnt see anything (which really means nothing)

There will be runes which enhance the abilities of your skills.

Multi-shot rune on Electrocute for instance turns it into a chain lightning type spell. Lethality rune makes enemies explode after dying causing damage to adjacent foes, etc... That's all I've heard about as far as items which effect skills are concerned.

Re: + all items

You are referring to items like Tarnhelm with +1 to all skills I guess eh? I haven't seen any plus to all skills on anything that I can recall, nor do I remember any of the interviews touching on it. I imagine they will have it.

It made me wonder if plus to all attributes will make a return, considering the auto-assigned attributes. Obsidian Amulet of the Zodiac?

Re: + all items

I'm guessing a plus all attributes will probably be a great mod in D3. With stats already auto-assigned, it would be a great way of giving your character that extra damage/life/regeneration/mana/ect. Hopefully stats will have more of an element to your character/class.
Plus skills would be great, espicially single skills. Seeing as to how the new skill tree design relies on investment, it'd be nice to get some of those extra skills for the very least fun. I'm not sure if a plus skills to all would be a good idea due to over powering of characters and equipment reliability. If anything, it should be a mod for complete sets that are extremely rare items (such as Tyrael's or Azurewrath rare in D2). I think people are going to be happy with investing full points into the new skills because of the lowered max limit of being 1,2,3,4,5 sometimes maybe 6 or 7.
By the way, loving your guys' X-Men pictures, some of the best comic characters ever IMO.

Re: + all items

yup was referring to items like tarnhelm, just wondering with the focus on passives will it be a good idea to have plus all? maybe ok with a cap? if one can get plus 12 all for example why not just throw 1 point into all passives, or at least all level 1 and 5 and get the bonus that way

the plus all attribute could turn into a great mod if they make the values of str/dex/so on worth it and so far it does look like they are trying to anyway

about the xmen, always loved apoc, followed by sinister and magneto so it is great to so sinister show up around here lol. good pic of him too. i used the AOA apoc as i think he was the best looking

The dreaded +skill items, that basically ruin the game and characters, since you can accumulate a lot of charms with +tabs and items that make it so that your character doesn't even have to spec, and can just put 1 point into all skills.

Re: + all items

okay to suggest that diablo 3 will not use items that give + to all skills in my opion is nothing short of blasfemy. I have played the diablo series since the first diablo came out and have since played all the expansion packs and games. + to skill has been included in diablo since the begining and im sure that it will be agian. so to all of you that say + to skills ruined the game bight your touges + to skills is one of diablos trademarks and one of those small differences that makes diablo great.

Re: + all items

Yes it is a trade mark, but however how much did it take away from the game previously? I can see that they're trying to make the characters more independent. With the allocation of plus all skills, that'd greatly break down the points of fixing your character to be an all round bad a**, instead you'd be more focused on adding as many skillers as possible, like in D2. Then again, plus all skills wouldn't be bad at all if it was more limited to be less frequent. +1/2/3 would be a very nice addition in giving your character godly amounts of power, but I can't say that for sure until the balancing is worked out. The way D2 played out with +9-16 skills was horrible. It made the characters over the top in so many unjust ways to the point where we were item hunting for that very mod...
Overall, in the end once they get balancing issues taken care of, anything could work for the good or bad.

Re: + all items

if they capped it then it would be ok i think but then again everyone would make sure every char hit the cap.

Re: + all items

With the new system of max ranks in skills I doubt they will add +skills items. If you had +14 in + all skills items and then put one point into every skill you would be maxed out in every skill for your character, that would be imbalanced beyond belief. I think they are going to get rid of + all skills items and +skill tree items, they might add +skill to a specific skill on some items though. I think this time around they want the gear to be focused more on character attributes than character skills (aside from runes of course which are designed specifically for skills). With the max ranks people will have a limit to how effective a single skill gets so that it is more beneficial for players to have a variety of skills. I think it all part of Blizzard's effort to diversify character builds and gameplay styles. They don't want people focusing on one skill, maxing everything that boosts the skill and then get level 45 of that skill.
Getting back to attributes, since at this point in design all attributes are auto-placed when a character levels up the differences in character attributes of the same class will only differ through items and difference in character level. They wanted the character to be very gear dependent so I think + attributes from items will be an important function of items. + all attribute items seem like a very possible addition to the game but + all skills seems to go against the mindset of Blizzard's skills and items system for Diablo 3.
