Re: belial and azmodan

Guessing they will..... Their motives have to be shown.. Whether they were with the Primes getting imprisoned in Sanctuary to destroy the World Stone or not. If they were with then I can just see them being a part of Hell's minions, blah blah blah nothing special but a fight or something. However, if they were against, that would provide a sufficent amount of back story line to the Primes return, and their motives to do something about it yet. One theory I have is that the Lord of Lies is going to somehow confuse an angel or the player. Somewhere they said that D3 is going to be the finishing of a triliogy.... will what can they finish? We've known about Sanctuary the whole time without anything outside of that. The eternal war is all that's going on.... Maybe it's coming to an end, but I don't see it ending in sunshine. I'm betting that Tyrael is banished from the High Heavens to Sanctuary because of his breaking of an oath. That'll give Imperius all the reason to destroy Sanctuary, he's always hated us. Imperius is the arch angel of war.... He's the power meany of the High Heavens as much as Diablo is the Terror of the Burning Hells. Well.... if he's down in Sanctuary getting distracted by destroying everything and the player trying to stop him, then what's Hell and the Heavens doing? They're at war still, but they've always been equally matched.... Well.... why not attack when they're not equal matched?..... so that's one part that they may play.... but then again the assult on the High Heavens may also be a distraction in the end for Hells triumph on Sanctuary....
Another interesting subject is Inarius..... Someone posted up a picture of a barbed wires covering this torn creature from the Blizzcon Art Gallery. It was poor quality... I won't believe it until Flux posts up one, if it actually exists. But yeah.... um. OH yeah! So,barbed wires are a symbol of Mephisto, and he has only used it once, to our knowledge, on Inarius. Well Inarius has been inprisoned in Hell for all this time. He's crazier than batShik before he went to Hell..... It would be a great idea to have the Burning Hells release him onto Sanctuary with the Lord of Lies twisting his view.... something like a fake Tyrael "saving" him, saying that Sanctuary has fallen to the Burning Hells and that they were wrong about him and need his help. Either way, Inarius wants to destroy everything.... So why not let him go make some messes? Also, imagine what he'll look like and how bad *** of a character he'll be if he's in the game.... *shivers*
Also, from developer stand point, many of these characters in the Lore that are big have never been used in previous games.... With the new technology and trying to adept the story more into gameplay, there's some great possiblities when you think about it. "lord of Lies", Lord of Sins, arch angel of war, crazy angel with his wings ripped out along with his eyes lids and body ravaged by barbed wires being stuck in a room of mirrors in Hell for a damn a$$ long time, Shapeshifters, Necromancers, ect..... almost anything in the lore can be done again in the future, but which ones will have the biggest impact story wise? Which ones will just look overall for something that'll grab the player's attention by the balls and say "wow, that was sweet..... twight like a twiger". hmmmmm.....

Re: belial and azmodan

Isnīt belial just another word for devil as in diablo? Personly i think that blizzard should create ther own bosses and story around them like the butcher and king Leoric.
I also hope that the story in D3 is based on D2 and not those books as most people has not read them. They could use charachters and elements from the books to give people that have read them kind of more value, refering to books in sidequests and such. But the D3 main story should be a direct follow up on D2 so that poeple like me, and most who will play d3, that have no idea (or intresst) who batShiek or Inarius is isnt left out.

Mephisto is also another word for devil, to be honest I think most (all?!) demons presented has the name of some sort of devilness.

And Belial is a demon himself, really. The Lord of Lies!

The books just go into detail of certain characters. There's only about 3 characters that we're likely to see in the next game that originate from the book. Those are Imperius, Zayl, and someone else I can't think of right now.
The rest of the characters are in previous games scripts or manuals. Inarius has been mentioned. Belial and Azmodan too. There's quite abit if you dig hard enough....
It seems like Chris Metzen gets his ideas from worldly cultures... Mephisto is a demon in India, Baal is a tibetian God, there's alot.

Re: belial and azmodan

I still say the end of D2 wasn't Tyreal at all. It was the lord of lies. Tyreal will be sent to sanctuary as a punishment for destroying the world stone. The barb will hate him for it. Tyreal will have to convince us it was never him to begin with. Then we'll work to uncover what the demon's plans really were.

At least I hope for something cool like that.
