Since I've understood that no set items were seen in Blizzcon demo I was wondering-
Do you want set items to make a comeback?
I presonally really really do. If MF will be underpowered as it seems it will be much harder to collect pieces of sets making it a reall joy to find a second item for a set you alreay have.
I would also love to see more ultimate sets like IK and Tal Rasha but they should make it that when you finish the whole set you looks super cool. Not the lame glow you get in D2 but something super cool like Auras or maybe wings
Although they'll have to make sets much better. Most of the sets were pathetic.
YES. Set items are nice little side-touches that still shouldnt be for the cookie cutters... but more for the lookers
IK's should make you look like an Immortal King not a glowing ape and tals not some sort of purple necro....
if they get the looks right, they will be good. IMO there like practical dress up costumes that function as OK gear too... hell.. i mean EBOTD BA's are FUGLY critters... but there nice.. should be a happy medium between looks and stats...
Having a few different sets in the game is ok. However I really hope blizzard does not head down the road of WoW and turn everything in the game into item sets. This is just stupid and takes away character creativity. The ammount of sets in D2 was fine. They could have a few more or less just not overkill.
Trang oul (pardon the spelling) set turned you into a lich when all items were equiped. That was fun to screw with newbies =D
Great example
As said a lot, full sets can't compare with a combination of Runewords and unqiues. And it that statement stays in D3, they should at least make amazing appearances (like Trang Oul shapeshift) or crazy out of the ordinary skills (like Tang Oul fire spell).
I don't know about you but appearance took a big part for some players. Take Shako for example. Not alot, but quite a few players, and myself among them, searched desperately for other helm alternatives just so we won't have to walk around looking like a condom.

Heh, agree, and imo,
they should make set items rarer, and the full set bonus should be comparable to a person wearing runeword items.
Set Items in D2 are Hoovering Pieces of ****. I mean really: can you make a PRO char with sets? I can tell you that there is no way they don't include sets too so expect them to return. And unless they nerf them, so having a full completed set (which should be rare to accomplish instead of buying the whole thing for ist) would make you super awesome strong, much stronger than runewording each item, they will be just as useless as they are now.
Something tells me there won't be sets in D3. Just a hunch, though...
But if they will return, I'm guessing they will all be class-specific, or maybe even build-type specific for each class. However, "godly" rares and a few top uniques would still be more powerful than those sets. Just my guess.
I'm positive they will include set items, it's basically a staple in diablo and warcraft. The games are supported by a ridiculous amount of cool goodies to collect and match togethor. If they don't include Sets, and possibly some other mechanic for bonus attributes from items, I will be very shocked.
