So we know from several interviews that potions aren't completely out of the game, question is: could they be used as currency?
Except healing potions, for those situations when you just can't wait for an orb, I am thinking about Elixers that give temporary but long buffs. Like "Greater Elixer of Vitality" would give like +20 Vit bonus for 8 playing hours and stays even upon death.
I think it's an interesting idea because it's a depleting currency which is less likely to overflood the market. It add another strategic thought the player has to keep in mind (Drink it now or trade it later?).
Of course we have no idea what blizzard has in store for potions. This is just me typing-out-loud. Any thoughts/flames would be welcome.
