Will Battle.net/Diablo3 feature an Auction House like World of Warcraft?

Perhaps, no one knows yet.

Battle.net 2.0 will have additional features, that could include something like an auction house, but no one knows for sure what the features will be.

they've said that trading will be much improved, and that we won't need to create games and drop items and character switch to mule. They have not said much about improved trading, other than that they hope to do better than the d2 window. Obviously the d3 team all play WoW and know how the auction houses work there, so they'll consider that type of tech for D3.

Personally, I think that's a place they might look to monetize/micro-payments things. small fee per auction, or you get a few free auctions and if you want more you have to pay for a higher level account, etc.

I think AH would be a great idea, however they would need to make money more valuable.

Well, all that it takes to make money worth something is an auction house type of system for trading, and reducing the amount of cash drops from the HAI I GOTS 430021 GOLD FROM COUNCILZ! to sensible amounts. The latter is only for practicality.
