Problem with full screen in d2 & sc

Hi guys, i've recently upgraded my system to a hd4850 graphics card...
And one really annoying problem is that it cant play my favorite games, wich are D2 and SC in full screen.

The problem is when i turn on full screen my monitor goes black and the LED starts blinking (while the game runs fine in the background, i can hear the sound and all)

Now in Starcraft BW it helps to wait like 1-4 min and it WILL eventually turn on and work, but in diablo i guess it works but you have to wait something up to 10-20 min for the screen to turn on.

This problem only occurs with these two games, have NO problem playing COD4, AoC, Crysis and all other high spec games.

I have heard this before, but don't have the problem myself.
Perhaps you can find a solution in the Diablo 2 Bug Reports forum.

Same thing happened to me a while back . What type of Graphic Drivers did you download? Or did you download any? If you did, probably you downloaded a one that doesnt fit with your Graphic Card.

I had that problem once with an old D2 disk, but I switched to a downloaded copy from the blizzard store, just put in the CD key and download and run, and it worked just fine.

Two things you can try:

1. Uninstall your video card drivers, then reinstall latest for your specific card.
2. Run the game in compatibility mode for an earlier operating system.

Ive got same card and have had times when D2 just froze for a good while or the screens gone black ,updating my drivers seems to have solved it but it seems a random thing anyway.By the way the Catalyst control centre was crashing on boot up also but got that fixed too.

Re: Problem with full screen in d2 & sc

I had that problem. If you are using vista try clicking Properties on the Diablo 2 shortcut on your desktop, then click the compatibility tab and check the "run this program in compatibility mode for:" box and choose windows xp.

Before you open it, you might want to try and right click the shortcut and click "run as administrator" might help aswell. That is what i did.

One more thing that might help is going to properties again on the d2 shortcut, where it says Target: "... /Diablo II.exe" add to the end of it " -w -ns -skiptobnet"

Thats " -w -ns -skiptobnet"

That cancels in game sound like that annoys you when in chat and talking to friends on skype and its all they hear :P and it runs it in windowed mode, imo its alot better i can watch movies and stuff while playing/mfing. Also when you open d2, it skips the intro with the cinematic stuff, and goes straight to bnet login.

Edit: If it makes any diffirence im using ATI Radeon 3470 HD in a lap top, got same one in my desktop.

Hope this helps!

Problem with full screen in d2 sc

just did a clean install of windows 7 and FSX. On windowed mode is working great but when I got to full screen screen goes back and forth between a small window and a black screen, then the small window satys on still showing the desktop. Full screen wont work

I installed the latest nvidea drivers, fsx sp1 and sp2
video card is 9800GTX with a dualhead2go, native resolution is set the same on windows and fsx

Thank you

Run the game in 2d mode and make sure it's up to date.
