Highest (EPIC) Levels that take ALOT OF TIME to get.

Just as a recognition to the dedicated players who would love to become more than names on a ladder. An Epic Level should take at least 520 hours of high level game play to reach and there should be at least 10 "Epic" levels that give the players progressively higher stat rewards for every "Epic" level gained.

I feel that this sort of reward may have an impact on high level gameplay for players that want to become a sort of in-game legend. In conjunction with Epic Level skills or Epic skill levels the idea would bring a sort of godly presence to those that devote their time to a game.

I think anyone that devotes so much time to a game should become a legend in their own right.

Sounds like another excuse for people to shout "you have no life". But I doubt anyone would even wanna do this unless the reward was really huge and even if it was people would complain about it.

Anything above level 90 always seemed too far for me to go, so I doubt I'd ever reach the status of EPIC NORDIC GOD-KING (which would make an amazing title, lol). It'd be a cool thing though, make the last 10 levels at least stand out from the previous 80 and all. In a mud I play (Arcane Ages) a lot of the classes really start to come into their most powerful skills around the last 20%, and especially the last 10% of the levels, things that make other players go "Damn! I've never seen anyone do that before!".

might be cool for environment sort of but it's terrible for balance purposes. Plus I don't think the developers particularly like developing content that almost no one gets to use / see.

520 played hours per epic level? Epic levels that are better and get progressively better the more you get? Doesn't sound very "diablo" to me.

The game already rewards those with freetime + patience + tolerance for the game enough. They shouldnt get extra rewards just for playing a crapton, the recognition of being one of the few high level players should be enough of a motivation to play lots.

If you want to be a legend in the game, do something legendary. That is more than hiring a Chinese factory to play the game constantly for you. I would rather have legends based on a leaderboard system for something OTHER than time spent playing the game.

I like this idea.

I also think it could be very good if the player actually gets to say "Damn! I've never seen that before", but the cause being random content unlocked by experience, or higher levels of the game or ...something.

Re: Highest (EPIC) Levels that take ALOT OF TIME to get.

520 Hours of high level play? Are you bloody serious?

To put it in perspective - assuming an average person who can allocate, let's be generous, 2 hours every day to play video games. That's.... 260 days ignoring the time spent getting to the high levels. How about no? How about not restricting content to a bunch of kiddies whose parents indulge their every whim with 100 dollar bills?

This isn't a mumorpuhger. There shouldn't be content virtually unattainable to those who like to play other games or have a real life to consider.

I am all for epic levels or extra-high difficulty, but those should reflect player ability as opposed to unnatural player time investment.

Re: Highest (EPIC) Levels that take ALOT OF TIME to get.

While I do not think that time invested in the game should directly impact the game, (indirectly through experience is fine), I would still like to know just how many hours I've actually spent playing, (it might help my addiction ).

I do like the idea of having more content as you move up though the game, expanding on the larger play areas in D2 Nightmare and Hell, to have a few new areas complete with fresh monsters; drops and possibly additional plot clarification, would be cool.
