guides for non-shield using (2 handed) warrior?

does anyone (or would anyone) want or be interested in doing such guides?

i know everyone says 2 handed axes are weak compared to 1 hand weapon and shield gear. but for fun, i'd be interested if anyone could/would make a guide for 2 handed axes for warriors. if anyone is curious and want to experiment with using 2 handed axes trying to make them more viable and than posting a guide would be awesome. i don't think theres any talk/info (posts/threads) of trying to make a 2 handed axe warrior

same for a warrior using a bow. i don't think theres any talk/info (posts/threads) of trying to make a bow warrior. is a bow warrior even viable? (i know a rogue is 100% better, but can a bow warrior be a viable choice, if just for fun or rp'ing)

i would myself but i've barely played d1 and am no where near knowledgible.

Re: guides for non-shield using (2 handed) warrior?

I would imagine a 2-handed weapon warrior (Axes, Mauls, ?) would play identical to a guide for building any other strong warrior in terms of tactics and needs. You are still fighting melee range so all usual tactics apply. There would probably be a greater emphasis on getting the highest possible AC out of your armor. You definitely need a Master's/King's prefix on your weapon, and blood suffix may make more sense than Haste. You need to hit hard and accurately, keep your foe in stun lock and compensate for your lack of blocking in some way. I think you play the same, just more carefully.

A bow warrior would have to be a gimmick build due to your low dex - you'd never hit anything. I guess you could load up on Perfection items and Stone Curse your way through.

My opinion, at least.

Re: guides for non-shield using (2 handed) warrior?

cool thanks. ya lots of stuff u say makes sense.

for the 2h (2 handed) melee warrior build:

1. its true that for the melee warrior they'd play mostly the same way.

2. i was more curious about very specific (exact gear people would use or try to use) gear that would be needed to possibly make a 2 handed warrior more viable than the current opinion of them. like would u try to get as much life from gear as possible or ac or dex (to hit chance) or if u can all. if not which is most important to least important. etc..

3. i would think that if possible melee 2 handers would want both speed and LL (life leech). if not, which would be better? i'm not sure which u think is better from your sentence, "You definitely need a Master's/King's prefix on your weapon, and blood suffix may make more sense than Haste. -kunzaito"

4. if this is how stun works, as much damage as u can so u can get them into stun lock. does this damage come before the other mods u also want on your gear like high ac or life or whatever?

5. a possible alternative, is to have high magic build, and use stone curse. than smash those stone "statues" (stone cursed monsters) to pieces at your leisure!!

for the bow using warrior:

1. dexterity is definately a BIG problem. is it possible to get enough dex (or directly: to hit mods) from gear to, at least, mitigate this?

2. what mods do u want on gear? obviously u would like anything that can increase bow speed since its slower than a rogues'.

3. i'm too lazy right now to look up jarulf's guide or the post i did (where i pasted the info from jarulf's guide) on what stats effect bow damage for warriors. is it only str that effects bow damage or is it str + dex? in either case, if str does indead increase bow damage the warrior would have really high bow damage....

Re: guides for non-shield using (2 handed) warrior?

Only strength affects the warrior bow damage - rogues got bonuses from strn/dex both.

Warrior: Str*clvl / 200
Rogue: (Str+Dex) * clvl / 200
Sorcerer: Str*clvl / 200

However, a warrior could switch to bow occasionally. It doesn't have to mean that you have to only use bow. Many times switching to bow would result to a faster killing pace, I think. Although stone curse and/or teleport is probably what you want, anyway. But bow could work just as well - you would just need items that boost your change to hit.

Switching to bow is also nice if you play with party and can't take hits. Like last week there was a lower level warrior who played with bow instead of sword/shield because he would've only died and be in the way otherwise. I thought it was really good and he/she did okay with the bow, too.

Re: guides for non-shield using (2 handed) warrior?

The 2-handed warrior is all about killing speed. The 1-handed warrior has a shield that give him more AC, block, and additional stats.
Basic thing to look for is the highest defance armor you can find Godly Full Plate would be the best, but AC is your #1 thing to look for. Next is a high damage weapon, you need to kill quick so go for that damage. In a helm, rings, and ammys get resists and + to stats. You only need to use the resists that are currently needed on the lvl you are on most time only 2 of 3. So have a mix of rings and ammys for what you find your self into. + to Vit, HP or Str are all good in addition to resists.
They are hard builds that to play, but when you get the right set of gear very powerful.

Legit godly full plates are impossible to find, the best you can get is a Holy Full Plate and those are extremely rare. You could buy a godly full plate from wirt, except there is a maximum sale price of 200k, which a godly full plate is above, so he can't sell them. You'll see him sell godly rags though. I once saw a perfect godly rags of the whale from him for something like 196k.

One of the best items I ever found was an awesome full plate of the stars, although the AC on it was pretty middling. I stupidly traded it away before I realised how good it was, and never found anything approaching it again.

Re: guides for non-shield using (2 handed) warrior?

I just lost my an amazing set of armor when I clicked on it when moving an item and I got lag at the same time. End result my bow was duped and armor lost!!! It was quite a blow and still have not found anything close to it.

Saintly Full Plate of Harmony was my best find for armor, but I lost that char. when that computer burned up (literally). Although two nights ago I found my first Royal Circlet, so I am pretty stoked about that!

I just checked Jarulf's, it's actually impossible to find Holy in any dungeon whatsoever, the only place you can get it from is Wirt. His sale cap is 135k, not the 200k I said above.
