Lightbulb Shrines?

i would like to see Shrines being as mind nimbling as they were in D1.
They give you a riddle to make you figure out what the hell you have just done.

Shrines do not need ''names'' thats what made it so interesting to just wonder wether or not you should be touching it.

Re: Shrines?

Ah, I'd like to see a mix of D2 style straight-forward shrines (floating symbol and the whole bit) and some of the riddle-shrines from D1. My favorite was the one that said "Crimson and azure become as the sun" and changed all your healing and mana potions into rejuvenation potions (which used to be gold, which makes less sense than purple, but looked a bit cooler to me).

Some of the D1 shrines did abritrary-seeming things, like swapping the durability of items, and reorganizing a few stat points at a time. I'd like to see ones that altered items again, like a shrine that gives a few +%ed to your equipped weapon, or +defense to your equipped armor. You could run a given shrine only once or twice on an item, and it would be listed in the item stats. A move back to shrines with permanent effects would be fun.

The dumb part about the pernament thing would be. Pick the wrong shrine and you are officially FUBARD

Isn't that part of the point? To be able to either get something great or something awful, it makes you think twice before clicking on every shrine you see as we did in D2.

This would add depth to the world I think, I say go for it.

Re: Shrines?

The ones in D1 didn't shift enough to wreck your build, but the added risk is there. They might make them benefit only, but it would be nice to see small bonuses to damage/durability/etc. Some risk would be nice, D2 had the 'fire shrine' they could give a quick end to hardcore characters.

You never actually die by those. Atleast i never got killed by them.
And I'm not the dumbest person to not read the shrines before activating them.

This is why we need unamed shrines with consequences

Yeah, fire shrines take off 50% of your remaining health, which can put you quite low, they themselves can't kill you. I agree though, more unpredictability in shrines.
