Auction, Shared Stash, Mail, Real Currency

4 things I hope Blizzard implements in Diablo 3 would be:

- An Auction House
- A Shared Stash (shared among all current accounts)
- A Mail system for in game trading
- And most important, a viable trading currency.

I feel strongly that it's very important to make a currency that's worth collecting that's not runes or gems like in Diablo 2. The way to do this is to create in-game vendors with items and services to spend your currency on. (i.e. Skill Tree resets or point buy backs, Stat Buy Backs, Gambling, Weapons, Armor, maybe crafting if it's implemented) Only with a viable currency, can an in-game trading system and auction house work correctly.

I also feel strongly about Mules. Collecting items in Diablo games is one of the most fun and satisifying aspects of the game. Blizzard shouldn't work to limit our item collection, they should encourage it. Creating Shared Stash, in-game Mail or both would solve this issue immediately.

What are the challenges? Well, developing these systems without destroying the game's economy. Without soulbound items like in WoW, allowing any item to be freely moved or traded creates very real inflation problems. Thus i feel it'll ultimately come down to how well Blizzard creates a viable and valuable currency. In short, if possessing the in-game currency is more valuable then storing the item itself, you can control the game's economy in the game instead of losing that control on the trade forums.

I'm sure there are many flaws or problems in my wishes, however, I'm hoping that if done right, Diablo 3 will be the same entertaining game that Diablo 2 is even 7 years after it's release.

Re: Auction, Shared Stash, Mail, Real Currency

I like the idea of a large account-wide stash, controlled trading (preventing trade hacks and the like primarily) and possibly a blizzard-controlled trading board. I'm against the idea of an auction house per se, it seems convenient and would prevent the situation of "I just paid twice as much as I should have for this weapon!" because all the listings would be side-by-side, however it's a feature more at home in an MMO, which Diablo is not.

Viable currency is something we're all wishing for, and hopefully we'll see it happen. No more cracked wands selling for 35,000 gold when a string of ears is only worth a few thousand to a vendor!

I especially like the Idea of a safe item mailing system, to transport easily items between mules. I would suggest somekind of packmule service where you would input the name and items you wish to mail to, and mail.

As for the auction house, I encourage you to read and post your detailed idea in this forum.
