Corrupted D2 characters?

We know that many of the heroes from the Diablo 2/LoD era have either lost everything (Barbarians), or gone insane.

The Bestiary indicates that the Wood Wraiths may very well be the "foul work of necromancers", hinting that the Priests of Rathma may have succumbed to darkness. It would be interesting to face off against them if that is the case.

Can we imagine this is the case? Which corrupted characters do you think we can expect to see in D3?

Personally i hope they go another way about it, they already did the same thing from d1 to d2. If they do it again it would be just repetitive...

Agree - we've already faced the corrupted heroes from Diablo 1 (Blood Raven, Summoner & Diablo himself) - I'd love to find them dead out in the wilderness, or as an NPC who helps you along...something like that

We killed Blood Raven (lots of times, too) I think she's going to stay dead. Same for the summoner, and I think Diablo is going to be an enemy... although if D3 wil have humans fighting against the Heavens at some point, we might just have a few quests with the theme of "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" in which we work with one side against the other. Then, of course, they turn on us and we have to kill them as well.

As for NPCs/enemies that will be corrupted, I'm fully expecting to see some of the old Tristram D1 people to show up. Adria, perhaps in an evil role. Perhaps Natalya from D2 will make another appearance?

As for a corrupted Paladin... what skills would they use? I mean, the Paladin is a warrior that is empowered by whichever divine forces of good he serves. Some sort of Demonic Paladin should exists, yes, but how would he work?

Blackguard (fallen paladins) would be awesome... Maybe some kind of aura? Like Evil Shock? LOL
Some kind of corruption aura that turns nearby animal type enemies into demons.. would be really cool...
As far as fighting necromancers, well ol' Nihlanak or whatever his name was was a necro or something like that wasn't he? Perhaps a taste of what we could expect.
Assassins working for the dark side would be cool too... Imagine being hit by fire traps after chasing down a shadow you thought was your true foe.
Packs of evil werewolf druids running you down... Corrupted sorceresses taking potshots at you before tele-ing away... Would be awesome!

If a Paladin was to be corrupted, I'd say they'd be unquestionably zealous and dangerous.

Essentially, everyone who isn't on their side or doesn't agree with them is their enemy. Basically just being overtly desperate to be righteous. But we've seen that done in Warcraft.

Just a thought - I'd like to see the paladin in a quest like Izual where you have to find him and beat him. Maybe you need his help or something. But he's crazy. And his attacks are based on different Paladin builds that are currently used.

Evil paladins wouldn't be too far off. After all, look at the Paladin's Homeland in Kurast. The influence of Mephisto (hell his Temple isn't terribly far away either) is quite strong there (or was). The land is definitely tainted and if I recall all or most of the Cantors of that faith and Zealot Zakarumites (along with the Council) fell to his sway. The Panther Women are outcasts of the Amazon Society. I don't think all the corrupted rogues will just disappear because Andariel is temporarily back in Hell. I've always thought the Necromancers were pretty iffy to begin with and could easily see them falling sway to the Dark Forces. The Barbarian, nah. They're tough as nails. The Druid could possibly fall somewhere in-between. I could see Assassins jumping to Dark Side also.

I don't think all of them would fall but I do think the forces of Hell could gain quite a few more followers.
