Radical graphic design

As the graphics of D3 are considered controversial by many, I have decided to give my own creativity a chance to redesign the graphics.

In this redesign I have decided to tilt the isometric view slightly. This will result in a much better overview of the battleground.

To get rid of the WoW-like, colorful feeling I have attempted to bring back the gothic style from D1 and D2 by using dark, seemingly broken and weathered stone-textures.

I have also made some improvements to the GUI. Data is now accessible anytime, anywhere. You can see your character name, your current gold, what zone you're in etc.

Also, please look at the variations of the battlefield levels. One navigates through the levels/dungeons by making use of the environment. Also, powerups might be hidden in the environment! Destroying the environment may reveal these. For example, one might encounter a rare kind of mushrooms which gives you more hitpoints, an exotic flower which gives you bonus fire damage or some star-residue from the meteor (cinematic) which may give you temporary invulnerability.

Anyways, here are the screens:

Re: Radical graphic design

Being able to see the clouds certainly is a big improvement.

Re: Radical graphic design

It could indeed be a little darker, I have to agree with the other posters.

So, I improved upon Evoknox his already fantastic work by adding a grain filter, decreasing gamma, decreasing the blue and green tints, adding a rocky texture, adding a light radius, adding a woven pattern and as a finalizing touch I flipped the screen.

Re: Radical graphic design

Wow!

The way you just proposed would have another benefit. A flipped world with inverted controls for the more experienced player. Try playing hardcore-mode like that!

But on a serious note, I really like the graphics that were shown in the gameplay video and adding a few more colors is definitally a big improvement. There's too much whining going on atm by everyone who doesn't agree with the colors. Maybe there still are some darker zones left, maybe you get to go to hell where everything is much darker than D1 and D2 have ever been.

Waiting on a game for 6 years and then when it's announced the first thing you do is whine about the colors, have a bit more faith in Blizzard, they have never let me down atleast.
