System Requirements

Will anyone else be upgrading their machines?

I know Blizzard announced that the game will be playable on a variety of computers, but a game release this big is enough for me to want high end settings when I finally get my hands on a copy

Re: System Requirements

It all depends on the other games and things that have to be done on the machine.
If the system requirements are what is considered market standards by that time (most of other games also demand similar requirements), probably yes. Upgrading a machine just to play one game? It better be damn good (and no I don't think Mass Effect quite counts)

Re: System Requirements

I plan on building a new computer sometime after I graduate from college in December, and it will be able to handle a lot of games. So, not really upgrading because I will still use my laptop, just getting a desktop that kicks butt

I just have a gateway, but it runs things better than my old desktop did (I'm a college student and didn't have the money to upgrade it fully, so I just bought a laptop :P ). I have my wish list shared on newegg if you want to see what I'm looking at building (were I to buy it today).

Re: System Requirements

I know for a fact that my personal laptop will not run this game, but I'm hoping that my work laptop that my company gives me in the fall will be capable. If not, I'm going to start building myself a desktop. Here's the thing --

Obviously Blizzard has running copies of a beta version, obviously they have an idea of what range of computers COULD run this. If I'm an avid Diablo fan, willing to go out and BUY a computer just for this game, why can't Blizzard (like the guys at Flagship) at least give me a HINT as to what I'll need. Even if they say "This is by no means the final requirements." I don't want to miss out on a good computer deal between now and when they release the requirements simply b/c Blizzard has sticks up their bums.

What do you guys think- based on the graphics you've seen and the other similar Blizzard releases in the past- the minimum requirements for this game will be?

Minimum Requirements:
GFX: GeForce 6600/7600/8600 Series
CPU: Pentium 4
RAM: 1 GB
Internet: ADSL 1 Mbit
Custom build computers of 4 years old already match this (geforce 6600 GT is 4 years old , and already supports pixelshader 3.0) Of course, you could add in that graphics card later.
Memory can also be increased if you still have one with only 512Mb or lower.
If you do not have this, or have a laptop with a graphics chip instead of a grapics card, then you did not make a reasonable purchase, or your laptop was never meant for games.

Of course, games never run well on minimum requirements. I for one would not even call it playable.

Re: System Requirements

I currently have a 2 year old Alienware Area-51m laptop built for gaming and I recently upgraded to 4gb of RAM. I have a feeling I will be able to run this game reasonably well. This machine took WoW like a pro and I have never had issues with any other game. The one thing that I am worried about is that it has only a 60GB Hard drive with only 25GB free space, Age of Conan (haven't played) takes up 25Gb, I believe, so I might need to look into a larger hard drive.

Re: System Requirements

I am moving to Mac user and switching my PC to iMac during this month. D3 is going to be playable with mac too I quess? The biggest guestion is whether I take my iMac with:
# ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO w/256MB GDDR3 or
# NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS w/512MB GDDR3

What do you think. Will D3 be playable with ATI or should I pay the 120euro extra for NVIDIA?
