Genuine class discussion

Well, from what I have seen, nobody is really offering new (read: move on from the past) ideas on classes. I have given it some thought, and offer my $.02. Take it for what is worth.

Barbarian - Clearly in
Possible skill trees - Same as in D2
Could Replace - Ummm...

Witch Doctor - Clearly in
Possible Skill Trees - Fire, Summoning, Curses
Could Replace - Necromancer & Druid

Now for the remaining 3

Geomancer
Possible Skill Trees - Fire & Earth, Wind & Ice, Golems
Would Replace - Sorceress, Some Necro bits

Ranger (Hunter)
Possible Skill Trees - Traps, Beast, Bow/Combat
Would replace - Amazon, Rogue, Assassin

Demon Hunter / Warlock (I know, I know)
Possible Skill Trees - Auras, Combat, Demonology
Could Replace - Paladin

Well, there you go. Discuss amongst yourselves.

Wrong forum, man.

And the Witchdoctor doesnt have a fire tree. One of his spells is simply firebomb.

Geomancers-no one knows what those are. Never heard of them.

Demon Hunter-2 words.

Ranger-now there's an idea I like.

What about a pure magician though?

Re: Genuine class discussion

My idea on the 3 remaining classes for Diablo 3 would be:

Horadrin Mage - You start off as an apprentice seeking Cain, and the story of Diablo 3 will be your character learning and uncovering the secrets of the Horadrim and facing down the Lords of Hell

Stealth Ranger - This character would be renimisant of the 'wanderer' from the previous games and would be equally adapt with the bow, sword, pikes, maces, staffs etc. Would like to see an introduction of samurai/ninja/assasin arts. Can dual-wield but restricted to a sword with another sword/pike/mace/staff, or use a 2-handed sword with a shield.

The final character I guess would be abit different like the way the necro was in d2. I would like to see a fallen angel sent from heaven as this would give another unique take on the story.

Blizzard has said the the story will be different for each class as it is told from each of their own perspectives, and so they will have to have some Diablo lore to their background and have an interest in the events unfolding for different reasons.

Re: Genuine class discussion

My i dead for a class is a knight (maybe a demon-hunter) who uses enchants to buff himself like iceblade adding cold damage to the blade or bleed adding open wounds stuff like that also he could have other melee type skills similar to the pally's and possible even a summon but that might be a bit too diverse and overpowered

Re: Genuine class discussion

No offense to the OP, but it sounds like you want blizz to import classes straight from WoW, which I am definately against. The half the skill trees you listed for the hunter and warlock are exactly the same as trees from the hunter and warlock in WoW.

Anyway I like the angel idea as a new class. My take on it would be that the 'angelic council' has finally decided that Tyrael was right and that they need to take a more active role in events. Obviously give them some holy-based skills, maybe limited flight & an attack from the flying position (kind of like leap & leap attack from Dii). Maybe some mastery type skills since they've lived so much longer than humans. I would see the angel as a pally-esque class; a soldier that draws his power from his knowledge & connection to the heavens.

On another note, Cain was the last of the Horadrim way back in D1 right? That would be kinda cool to have the order start rebuilding by having apprentices seeking out the last Horadric mage for tutelage.

Re: Genuine class discussion

Asurah, those 3 chars are somewhat... odd.

I'd go for: Horadrim Apprentice = Sorcerer --- Iron Wolf = Paladin (basically what spinns said but following D2's characters) and Rogue = Amazon.

I highly doubt there would be anything like an Angel Class, since Diablo has always characterized of having only humans as available characters.
