Has anyone been using the B.net forums? Yes, they're as spammy and full of trolls and haters as always, but I've been trying to post some there to enliven the discourse.
Unfortunately, I can not. I hadn't used the b.net forums in years, and I had to create a new account and enter a cd-key and such. That worked fine, and I can reply or post in other forums there... but not the D3 one. I always get the forum down message, which happens a lot in general (since their forum software is wack), but happens every time I try to make a post.
Did anyone else have this problem, and did you find a way to fix it? I get the same error with FF or MIE, so it's not browser-specific.
For the past year it's been that way. The battle.net forums just suck. I always get the Forum Down page. Every now and then you will get lucky and not get it though. They need to code some new software. Something like the xbox forums would do.
Edit: Yes it is mostly the D3 forum. Last week on saturday it was spam attacked. 900+ pages made in minutes. I don't know what's going on over there. I know it's not the unflux of users since the other forums are just fine. This never happen when the sc2 forums were added.
Frankly don't waste your time Flux. Battle.net forum will NEVER improve until the moderators there actually do their job...moderate. It is a cesspool of the most immature garbage on the internet. No matter what you post, I guarantee you WILL get a troll. Frankly that site is best just left alone.
What they need is a board where you have to register, and where people get banned. This past weekend the D3 section was under massive spam attack. Something like 300+ pages of spam posts (do these kiddies just not have any friends or life?).
One thing, don't try to post at night or on weekends where nobody pays attention to the forum, well nobody from Blizzard. That is when you are most likely to experience problems because the little dimwits are either try to bombard the forum or make it crash.
Considering how ridiculous battle.net can be in the game, I wouldn't rely on battle.net's forums. In fact I'm kind of worried by Blizzard's decision to use battle.net for D3, I was hoping for something completely new.
I know those forums can be hell, but but I'd still like to post there sometimes, to share new d3 news and advertise the resources we have on this site. There's none of that coming from the official d3 site yet, their "community" page is unpopulated, the "reward for giving up the the domain name" plug to diablofans isn't sending people anywhere but another b.net-style forum, and plenty of d3 fans aren't aware of our more organized, info-rich, screenshot-galleried, wikified, etc, etc, fansite. *cough*
I guess i'll just try clicking the post button a whole lot of times in a row. it's like a non-purple-turning bnet gem simulation.
I just can not fathom how Blizzard can allow their own forum to be just such a *#*@!& mess. It has always been just a troll heaven, but it seems to be much worse now than it was 7-8 years ago.
I remember becoming so angry at how people there would just commonly through out the most offensive and racist comments and posts, and they would never get deleted. Worse, and something that makes me just despise those trolls they call moderators, is that these fools would see these posts and do nothing about them.
It is why I have always said Blizzard is just one poorly managed company. Their own website and forums are a representation of their business. I know EA and Infinity Ward never allow anything close to the trash Blizzard has.
Equally as bad is the fact that even the most mundane and simple posts will fill up with the most idiotic and childish replies by stupid little 15 year olds who think they are being witty. I only wish these dumb little *#&@ could see themselves the same as the rest of the planet seems them; as complete and utter morons.
