No Required stats on items???

Did anybody else notice how there aren't any required stats, i.e. strength or dexterity, on any one of the weapons? I hope they don't take that away. It makes the game fun, having to work hard to get that next level to be able to put on the next great item.

Re: No Required stats on items???

I would much prefer that dexterity and strength ratings are there not as a limiting factor to whether your character can use the item but rather a proficiency rating in your characters ability to use the item.

For weapons if you have less dexterity then the weapon states then you would take a penalty and have reduced weapon damage and weapon speed, once your character surpasses the dexterity rating then you recieve a boost to weapon damage and weapon speed.

For armour if you have less strength then the armour states the you would take a penalty and have inceased stamina drain, and reduced walk/run spreed and defence rating, once your character surpasses the strength rating then you have reduced stamina drain and recieve a boost to your defence rating.

Once you are outside a range of say +/- 25% then your character wouldn't be able to use the item if under the rating and not recieve anymore increase in bonus's when surpassed the rating.

That would be very very good, and there arent many obvious ways to get around te system on that one tbh... atleast not that i can see. Very Very good idea.

Re: No Required stats on items???

Keep in mind, Bashiok stated that the dungeion was custom made to show off the game. With that in mind, why waste time on complete stats for the weapon when all you want to do is show off the animations.

It was a static and specifically crafted dungeon especially for the demo, so yes it includes the look for Tristram Cathedral, but it's not a true piece of the game as you would play through it.
We all know Blizzard doesn't do much of anything on accident, an example being the pruple drops, gold drops, and the one drop that should tell you something, a shortbow drop.

Re: No Required stats on items???

I dont like stat-based gear. Level-based gear, or proficiency-based gear is nice. For example: Amazon-like character *should* be using leather-like armors. Soreceress-like character *should* be using cloth-like armors. And Barbarian-like character should be using mail/plate-like armor.

But a low level item has low strength requirements. So a high level caster might use low level "plate-armor", just becouse the fact some "high level cloth" have more strength requirements than "low level plate"
