Chest Capacity

One of my pet hates about D2 was having multiple storage characters on bnet and the pain of moving loot from one hero to another.
In a game about collecting loot, runes, sets and weapons why did they put such a limited storage space in the chests.

I would love to see an unlimited amount of storage in the chest or if the waypoints make a return and to add some realism why not make each chest for different towns have a clean slate of storage.

Someone get this post to bl1z!!
Please repost on the official bl1z D3 forums..

Re: Chest Capacity

Unlimited space would likely be too hard to implement but having a huge storage space that is sharable with all of your character on your account would reduce muling by a lot. I sure hope they do make a large storage system because they said they want to keep the game fast pace, if they get rid of most muling, then they can keep people in the action instead of mass transfering.

I also disliked that you had to create separate chars just to hold items..

hmm what do you guys think of a lineage 2 style warehouse.. for those of you that dont know of L2 I'll explain.. in L2 you had a warehouse with 100 or so slots where any item could be stored for a small gold cost.. you also had the option to freight items to your other chars on the same account.. this service however cost a little more gold.. picking up items sent to you was a free service so items could be sent to new chars without any problems..

maybe an option to trade items with other online players over bnet could be implemented.. like if I choose what items I wish to trade and others can ask the npc what is for sale.. it would then let you browse other players inventories of sold goods and make offers.. only items you wish to trade would be visible..
then when you make an offer to someone that person gets a system message saying "character vees placed an offer for one of your traded items"
and when the player gets back he can talk to the npc to view his offers for certain items and if you have been offered something you want click accept offer all items involved in the trade gets transfered automaticly to each persons warehouse for a transfering fee that must be payed by both players..

this would let ppl play the game more and waste less time shouting in trade channels..

Re: Chest Capacity

vees I absolutely adore that idea. I would completely solve all of the problems of the D2 system.
I love it.

Re: Chest Capacity

That sounds great! The trading system does need a facelift and a "market place" in game or on bnet would make D3 much more enjoyable.

I like every point you put forward regarding the storage system, i really hope bl1z breaks some ground in this area and sets a new standard.

Re: Chest Capacity

I honestly think it is going to be much like WoW, where you have a base amount of storage capacity and a certain number of bag slots with which to expand it. We saw in the demo video an item drop called 'Small White Bag', so i think it is at least the current idea for them (purely speculative due to the bag item dropping)

Re: Chest Capacity

This is how I think they should do it;

-a personal stash as now
-some form of bank accessible by all chars, either a shared stash or npc
-a fee per char to access the bank. .5 million perhaps, in d2 gold's terms
-possibly the bank has tabs. Further fees = bigger bank. The char's inventory could expand in a similiar way as well.
-ability to stack same type gems and runes on top of each other

Re: Chest Capacity

I'm glad you like my ideas maybe more storage room could be an upgrade you can purchase when you reach a certain level.. just like in d2 when you could store more gold every level.. for example every 10 levels could give you the option to purchase additional room for a few more items.. I dont think it should be a free upgrade that you get when you level up because I think that you should have as many things as possible to spend gold on so its actually worth something..

stackable gems and runes is an awsome idea aswell.. I like it

Good ideas. I like, though if they do something like this they will have to sort of rebalance gold.

Anyhow, my suggestion would be this:

You have 1 account stash. Each character gets 1 "page" in the stash, but each page has 0 slots in it. To open up slots for a particular character, that character must buy the slots, or craft them somehow.
