New Sets, Old Sets, or Combo?

What up guys,

Was just wondering what you guys think the Set item situation will be for D3. Do you want to see any personal favorites make a comeback? Any new ones you want to create or speculate on what they might be? Or should they get rid of all the old ones all together?

I hope they get rid of a lot of the absolutely useless sets like Isenharts. I say this, but then I find hsarus boots on hardcore and its like endgame items...haha (kidding..), but I hope some of our oldies but goodies make a return vamped up with some new ones to boot

Blizzard did this going from D1 to D2 and I assume they will do it again. Items, easter eggs, etc...little things from past games that are planted in D3 for continuity.

Re: New Sets, Old Sets, or Combo?

I'd like the option to make your own chr's set items! It could be a quest reward after you're really high level, or maybe even one for mid level.
So it would work like this: as you play, the game keeps a tally track of certain behaviors. Later, when you get to design your own set named after you, an option window opens up listing the different options available for mods. So if you had picked up 90%+ of the gold piles ever droped for you, you would have a big gold find option available on the list. If you stood in fire for so many accumulated seconds, there could be a good fire res mod available, and so on. Then you just go through the list and pick out any 5 mods for each item and bam, you get your own personalized set item. PKing to loot has never been more benefitial (I would design it so if someone gets PK'd, they get their gear back AND the PKer gets a copy of all the victim's worn gear. Of course, a person's gear is only copied like this the first time he is ever PK'd, and there is a horrible cost like losing permanent stat points).
Or, you get a quest every 20 levels and each quest allows you one piece of your set so you have to work a long time for it if you even choose these quests.

Afterall, how can there be 500000000 Isenhart's? Isn't he just one dude? Why did he make so many sets for himself?

I hope most stuff will be new.
Maybe they could bring back some (few) important uniques, with updated stats.
Nothing else imho.

i dont care if they bring back old items, or bring in new ones. all i want is items that are actually useful.

how many item sets in d2 are just plain useless ? too many to count.

Every set needs to count. There were too many sets that were crappy, and others that only a few of the pieces were worth wearing.

I like having a few crappy sets with very low level requirements to get your characters through those beginning few acts.

I don't mind the crappy sets/uniques to be honest - it just add to the variety of the game.

Besides, what is crappy and what is not? Glad's bane is not considered to be a good item but for some builds it's likely one of the best armor you can have.

Re: New Sets, Old Sets, or Combo?

Personally, I´d like to see sets being more powerful than uniques. As of now, that´s not the case, and I think that the time involved in gathering a full set should pay off. In DII, the amount of sets that are actually worth anything can be counted with a hand. That should change.
