hmm. isn't that the very same thing with RPG games and even FPS games.. in fact every genre.? hmm.
well. Hmm i don't think they are much alike apart from massing armies/or do some cunning stuffs to eliminate your opponents. Well if you are comparing SC with WC3 with FT with SC2, i think they would of coz be pretty much the same in UserInterface and such since they came from Blizzard... Likewise if you are to compare the C&C + Redalert series, they would be pretty much the same game type.
But if you are comparing to Command and Conquer Vs FrozenThrone. Then i think they are pretty much different. Well If you would to compare to Shattered Galaxy, den that is even more different with the rest of the RTS games.
Diablo RTS??? Don't play with "serious" issues... Diablo is an adventure RPG and this is the very essence of the game. One of the most particular game aspects is it's randomness which brings us the possibility to "farm" the hypothetical perfect gear to face all alone the evils of hell having "surprises" pretty much every time you play. The very soul of the Diablo series is the evolution of your characters and the "collection" of items... turning it into a RTS would just be creating a new gameplay, or maybe a new game from bottom to top. And yes, I know that the same was done in the Warcraft series, beggining with a "RTS"(?) and transforming it ultimatly into a RPG, or better, into a MMORPG. But this is not what I really want to see in my favorite series, whatsoever. For me Diablo is what it is, a RPG where I pick up a sword and use my Fanaticism aura to kill hordes of monsters and boost my friends powers, so I can "treasure hunt" and become stronger and stronger...
