Hell Unleashed

It's finally here! The HU MP thread!

Three weeks ago I presented this mod and it drew attention. The discussion thread is here
The HCWF has finished so it's time to get this thing rolling. The purpose of this group is what's demanded in Hell Unleashed; teamplay, teamplay and more teamplay.

Rules
  • Hell Unleashed v1.2 (Duh?)
  • Softcore
  • Team-oriented classes/builds
  • Different builds to ensure versatility
  • TEAMPLAY!
  • Untwinked

Other
  • Single Pass - HU doesn't become 10 times easier because you grind some gear. For certain fights I might even encourage grinding as preparation.
  • Full clears - Some areas are vastly enhanced in size in HU, full clears will just make it last 2 years before we hit normal Baal

Builds
I encourage cookiecutter builds. HU is not easy. I will not dictate people's builds, but it would be good if we occupied the strongest team-classes first; Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer and Paladin - I will personally play a Barbarian because it's very universal in a party. A healing paladin makes bossfights much, much easier. Druid adds more life, Necro has many useful curses and tanking summons.

Build suggestions
  • Paladin: Hammer+Holy Bolt+Prayer, Avenger
  • Druid: Windy+Oak, Fire+Oak, Fire Claws+Oak, Frost Bite+Oak
  • Necromancer: Skeletons+Golems+Death Knight+CE, Bone+Golems, Poison+Golems
  • Assassin: Shadow Master+Traps, Shadow Master+Blades
  • Amazon: Lightning Java, Valkyrie+Phys Bow, Valkyrie+Immolation
  • Sorceress: Blizzard, Telekinesis, Blaze

Did I miss anything? Suggestions?

Whee! rop: I'd like to play either a fire/fireclaws druid or a (again fire?) bow zon. But I'm open for suggestions, too.

I think we're going to have a set time of Saturday afternoon/evening with the occasional reschedule. That's what I gathered from the interested players in the discussion thread anyway.

Jaago: Sounds good

Sorry guys but I only have a set time of Saturday morning every week. Sometimes I have times when days off from school.

Anyways, are we making new characters or keeping the ones that we already made? I currently have a (will be) frozen orb sorceress as a cookie cutter build.

I'm definitely in, but I'll hold off on my build until I see what others are making.

saturday afternoon? i can usually play from 13:00 to ~ 17:00 then (GMT +1), but as i said not every week, , dunno how good that is for you guys, and when we miss a session (sorry, never paid much attention to the hcwf... :P) i would like to play with a either a singer barb (are they viable? i figure something like 20 BO/20BC/20WC/20shout, rest in passives?) or an avenger (conviction and sanctuary makes for good party play... :P), the singer would have my preference if viable, but if you say it won't work/1 barb is enough, the pally can be fun too... that is of coarse, if my times mach up with those of the others...

Where are the games taking place? TCP/IP or on the HU realm?

Sorry if this has been covered in the 'Change of pace' thread, I've searched it but came up with nothing.

i think it'll be TCP/IP, but does it really matter?
EDIT: i mean, could you not play tcp/ip, or battlenet...
i cannot host myself, but others can, or we can se up a hamachi network, so tcp/ip shouldn't be a problem, while the bnet thingie might have more lag... (it'd be easier when you miss a session tough)

It does matter AFAIK.

If we were to play through the HU realm, our chars would be stored on the server. Similar to how closed B.net works.

TCP/IP is how we normally MP here, ie. one players is hosting.

I was just wondering if the realm for HU would be used instead.
