Hell Unleashed: A change of pace

Greetings fellow forumites!

Has D2 lost its touch and turned into a dull habit? Need a new challenge?
Give Hell Unleashed a try, fun and challenging for even the most dedicated players!
I've been stuck in this mod for some weeks now, it's just a brand new D2! I mean, I've tried Median and that's definately something else too. But it's not like Hell Unleashed; The primary goal is just making it through. Normal difficulty is 10 times harder than Hell in vanilla!
Monsters are improved and many new bosses have been added including The Hellfire Dragon, The Chimera and the fearsome Juggernaught!
Bosses make out the hardest part of this game, especially act bosses: A friend and I spent two hours in two separate tries versus normal Mephisto alone!
Getting top-end gear is not as much of a hassle as in vanilla but the difference lies in the gameplay change: The game doesn't become drastically easy when you have the best gear, in fact, it's almost a requirement to have some of the best gear to have a solid chance at many bossfights.
98% of the unique items have altered stats, sets have been changed and some new ones added, affixes have changed and crafting has increased potential.

The mod is very co-op friendly compared to vanilla and it's almost a requirement versus many bosses as mod creator states: "Those purely interested in solo play will find a huge obstacle in bosses, as they were designed mainly for multiplayer combat…" - Soulmancer
Therefore I encourage you to join up in a HCWF-like group with me and try D2 co-op in an entirely new manner. (Healing paladin, anyone?)
Or grab the solo-edition if you're a loner or want to get a hang of the mod first

Enough rambling? Give Pindleskin a break and try this for a change!

Read more and get it here

Grab the mod, ask some questions and let me know if you're interested in an MP-group!

Oh and one last thing... the new music is great! Gives you a whole new atmosphere and makes the big fights twice as hectic!

That looks extremely interesting! I'd sure be in for some MP of it. I've only tried one mod in the past, (and while it was great,) it was at the time not greatly changed to regular D2. This looks like an interesting way to get into MP and a different D2 style.

Have you been playing the SP version so far?

Also, how 'changed' are some of the skills?

*Drops jaw* It's 340MB! I think I might dl it later in the morning, after some sleep.

Im downloading right now. Im interested in giving it a go if we get a group together.

Drystan: There is a LITE-version aswell, only 89mb, and you only miss out on the music.

wow, that certainly does sound like a really cool mod. i might download it...i dont know though, since i just got back into d2 really! well, if enough people show interest (since it sounds like multiplayer is pretty much required for bosses and anything above normal difficulty =P), then maybe ill download it! either way, nice find!

edit: I decided to download it either way =P. lets see how badly i get demolished =P

Good to hear!

Drystan: I haven't tried the SP version. The skills are almost the same but re-balanced in terms of damage and so on. There's a much better balance between them now. A few have been added, some passive ones for the amazon and 'Frostbite' for the druid.

If you have a decent connection you should definately grab the full version, the music is terrific!

Wink

Fun fact: nobody downloads mods with music.

Glad to see the SPF mod community is adopting mods. So far, it has only been a tiny subset of players using Median and ES. (I'll keep my own opinions of most other mods to myself)
