Cool MP SC Group

I'd like to attempt to make a group of SC players to play with much like LprMan did in his thread (Except his group is HC).

Rules:
1. Untwinked
2. Only one of each class (One sorc, one barb, etc.)
3. The games will use RRM and RWM
4. Try to stay away from overpowered builds (Hdin for example)
5. All games will be set to P8 regardless of how many ppl are in game (Makes things more interesting and challenging)
6. Limited "Runs." Only as needed.
7. Play only with group with said character (At least until the group disbands 4 good when that occurs)
8. Melee characters get priority over runes(Runewords). Simply put casters can usually do fine naked or with bad equip. Melee characters may need certain runewords to help them be useful especially in nm and beyond, at least until we find melee users better unique weapons and such. This isn't to say that a sorc will not get a spirit shield/sword or w/e. Just she might have to wait for it
9. If you use ATMA to mule any items, have them muled under a new stash (Again until the group is finished for good).

If I think of anything else I'll post.

If you're interested post the following:

1. Character Class (First person to claim a class gets it. And since there are only seven classes available, I'll allow one repeated class. First class to get two ppl gets it.)
2. Build you want to pursue
3. Time of day you are available to play.

I'll start off:

1. Barb.

2. Frenzy/Singer

Skills:
20 Frenzy
20 Double Swing
20 Battle Orders
11 Taunt
11 Warcry
10 Mastery
5 Natural Resist
1 Battle Command
1 Leap
1 Leap Attack
1 Beserk
1 Increased Stam
1 Increase Run/Walk
Rest = Prereq.

3. I'll be available to play pretty much all day til classes start up (End of this month).

This thread is going to be used as the HQ for the MP party including myself, deathmirage, mtzang, skoolbus and omg.

Progress: Lut Gholein Normal

I like the idea of posting our (un)planned builds that way we can offer any advice ot each other as some of us (me certainly) may be playing a build for the first time.

For my light sorc

Code:
20 Lightning
20 Chain Lightning
20 Lightning Mastery
20 Nova
1 Thunderstorm
1 Teleport
1 Warmth

and either

20 charged bolt, 1 tk, 7ES
or
16 tk, 10 ES, 1 charged bolt
Now that we're in Act II i suspect we all want to get new mercs :wink3: however its obviously not an ideal situation if we all get the same type. I think we should work out who'll get what but basicly, with 5 of us I see our best options as this

Defiance Merc
Might Merc
Holy Freeze Merc
and two others (blessed aim and ?)

I don't really care which merc I end up with so long as we don't all have the same type.

next session next weekend?

Yes I agree that its a good idea that each get a different merc to cover all available aura. Maybe a prayer merc for that little bit of healing.

My build: Throwbarb

First time playing one. After playing for one session, I have the following (personal) opinions about throwbarbs. Firstly, even 2 mana per throw is too much for untwinked. I'm gulping down mana potions so fast I thought I might have been a sorc trapped in a brute's body. Secondly, the throwing weapons ran out really fast.

My build
1 or 20 Double Throw? (since putting points in it only improves AR)
20 Double Swing (for damage synergy to double throw and maybe act as backup attack)
20 Throwing Mastery
1 Natural Resist
1 Faster R/W
1 Whatever 1-point wonders

Not sure where to put other skills. Howl, Taunt, Totem?

yeah i noticed you were picking up a lot of potions... i noticed cos I could never get a mana potion myself

The reason I didnt suggest a prayer merc is because omg is playing a Cleric. Although later on I think we might want him using auras other than prayer, cleansing or meditation (we could always slap an insight onto a prayer merc when we get the runes).

Getting some points in find item mightn't be a bad idea. Seeing as we are playing untwinked we're going to need find some good stuff, with find item we basicly get a double shot at stuff.

Just a little tip. Omg should wear insight, cause his Prayer aura will synergize better(He'll have it on a higher lvl) than Prayer aura from merc. That way you'll have mana and life regeneration at a crazy lvl!

I picked up a bunch, maul ate all 30 some of my mana really fast, I expect fc will do it even faster. Between both of our barbs, I hope that we get shout and BO maxed . I'm still deciding on oak sage. It seems like a good idea now, but I know in hell it will be more of a pain than help, but if anyone has a burning desire for it, let me know. As for mercs, assuming we all get act 2 ones (which could be good, or I think we could keep act 1, get a act 3 cold, or a barb so that we're not hurting for polearm weapons later on) prayer is definately the most useful aura in normal, and is very useful throughout the whole game. Prayer auras stack, so if we get one from a merc, and one from omg, it's even better. BA, not very useful, defiance, very useful, HF, very useful, might very useful. I think this leaves one merc open for being something besides act2.

I'd also hope for conviction, as would everyone else. It's the best party aura for casters and melee alike by far, but I don't know if omg wants to be just a walking aura with healing capabilities .

Not really sure on my build yet, probably max FC, max lycan, max 2 synergies, max bear?

Dutes:
I was looking at your skill build and I was wondering why 1 pt into TS? Even when maxed it doesn't do much damage. (Alittle over 1k per hit? With max mastery). One point would have it doing about 400 max per hit if you had mastery maxed.

IMO TS is a waste when your main skills can do 3x/4x more times damage per hit. Not to mention you can cast you main skills faster meaning more damage per second. For me TS is more of a dueling skill (And it looks cool) than a PvM skill.

I think you should definitely max charged bolt if you are going to be a pure build. If you maxed Charged Bolt/lighting/Chain Lighting/Light mastery/Nova then you'd be seeing a CL damage of a little over 3.5k per hit. And lets say you are killing way to fast for the rest of us, then just use nova for around 700 damage per hit. Charged bolt could even be used for about 100 damage per bolt (22 bolts. Spammed = death).

Btw I was picking up mana potions like crazy until I dropped a few points into double swing 2 mana does kill a barb's mana, but currently my mana cost is really alittle under 1 although the lying screen says a mana cost of 1.

When are we planning on playing again?? I'm about to catch up on the den and blood raven
