Any interest in a MP group?

Now that I've given up three days after the ladder reset on bnet, I'm itching for some more MP action. I've done one other MP group here before (long time ago), and quested a bunch of times, and playing with other SPers is very enjoyable. That one had a theme to it, pirates if I remember correctly, but I'm open to anything. If you too would like to go from carver slayer to guardian/pat/mat let me know and I'd love to do some regular MPing. I'm thinking once or twice a week for a couple of hours would be a reasonable time commitment.

I'm thinking we should have some guidelines to make play smoother for all.
- HC or SC, up to whoever, if anyone, that is interested's preference
- I personally don't use RWM/RRM, but I have no problem if we do in the game (wouldn't mind an insight or two :wink3
- Don't really want to spend lots of time rerunning areas/mfing. A few baal/bloody runs if we need a few levels would be fine.
- I normally don't do full clears often, but certainly don't mind doing them, or just racing from one wp to the next.
- One of each character class! No fun with 3 pallys, 3 sorcs, and 2 barbs, everyone is invincible and the game is way too easy.
- Untwinked
- v 1.11b
- 3+ people

Now that I look at it, it's very similar to LprMan's HC weekend fun, and taken right from his thread because he put it very well.

  • I'd prefer having great variety of character classes in the group, but this is not necessary
  • different mercenaries to prevent overuse of certain weapon types
I don't want to have the game filled with standard characters. I want to see an unique group of adventurers and how they manage to work together, not a 100% optimized party of killing machines.

Additionally, I have played in an untwinked group where one guy was playing a lightning sorc. The end result wasn't enjoyable, the sorc killed everything while we tried to keep up with her and collect the items left on the ground.
Other things I've thought about, but haven't been able to come up with a good answer. What if you can't make one of the sessions? Should we plan each session so everyone can make every time? Get someone to play your char and fill in for you? Make up the lost time on your own? Personally I'd prefer either to make it up on my own, or plan well.

Post your time zone, when during the week you think you definately can play, and what char + build (or loose association of skill points) you'd play. As for me, I'm in GMT -5 (EST) and I'd like to play either a shapeshifting druid or a fanatzealot (itching for some melee action).

I'll figure out a time that works for everyone to start with then pm/email them and hopefully we can start this weekend or soon after.

I really kekeke Lepraman's idea of a regular group, only thing bugging me was that it was HC. I would really love to join this one if it ends up being SC (I want the character to have some use after this tourney, too).

I'm GMT+2, can play any day anytime. I would be making a leaping barb, he would have no real combat skills, only Shout, BO, and maxed Leap. Then he would hork stuff for everyone!

I'd definitely be willing to play but my schedule is a bit screwy. I work 7:30 - 4:30 Mon-Thurs excluding the US national holidays and I can only get on when the computer is free. There's three other people who use this computer as well, seeing how it's the only other one with internet. I'm GMT -8 (PST). Late night weekdays (9:00+ PST) are usually best for me but I'm on quite a bit. (Averaging a few to several hours a day)

I'd play as a Bowzon, probably a Glass Cannon Strafer but it would have to be SC.

As for what to do if you can't make a session, I'd be willing to let someone play my character but my only problem is I haven't really gotten to know any of the SPFers. Well, we'll see.

Starting at 9 PST would give me an hour or so to play before I should be getting to bed, but that could work for me (at least while progress goes quickly). Would times on the weekend work too? Is 9 PST good for you too Cow King?

My schedule isn't that set in stone so I have some flexibility.

Weekends vary. This weekend I'm going to a wedding so that will take up most of Saturday but next weekend I have nearly 48 hours to do with as I please. Figuring in 12 hours to sleep that gives me 36 hours to work in D2. If that's not enough time somethings wrong.

Alright, want to aim for 9pm PST this monday or tuesday? And then perhaps a time over next weekend. We should be able to start and get through act 1 or 2 at least. Also, I think I'm going to try a charger rather than those other fairly well played builds.

Those times work for me. I might change my build though if you end up playing a Charger. A golemancer sounds tempting. With a Strafer and just the three of us (You, Cow King and I) we would lack a way to deal with PI's that doesn't include mercenaries. I'm thinking of going Golemancer. We'll see if anyone else is available.

Sorry but I doubt I'll be entering if more people won't sign up :undecided:

imo a mp group needs at least five people or so, if only because I can quarantee there'll be times when ppl have just something that came up, couldn't make it etc...

Also I started playing hardcore ladder recently... :hide:

I would be very interested in joining this group even though I don't have much experience about MP. It would be great to play with same group regurlaly and gain some MP experience . I will be able to play anyday from 17.00-24.00 starting from next monday (GMT+2). If you don't have anyone that would be able to deal with PI's I could make one - bonemancer maybe. Oh and I would prefer SC so I could use same char later and I would use RWM/RRM (insight rules ).
