question about MP gameplay

i've played upto hell difficulty with a friend on LAN , but going to start online when the ladder resets .

How does looting work in multiplayer , is it just a matter of the nearest person picks it up ? , this sounds like a whole load of trouble , i can imagine being a ranged character means melee can steal all the drops?

or is there a need/greed type system?

is it worth playing with strangers or are there to many ninja looters?

MP Guide; link in my sig.

Depends very much on who you are playing with. We tend to be a bit more civilized in SP. I wouldn't presume on bnet. Make things clear and try and play with friends.

Basically that is what happens. So ranged characters have to quick and get close to the action when they think something nice will drop. A bit more danagerous as they aren't designed to melee but when playing with the general population of Battle.net, that's what you have to do if you want to get the drops. Either that or hope they miss something/run out of inventory room.

oh thats a shame it doesnt have alooting system. Guess i been spoiled by MMOG . I can imagine how maddening it would be seeing a nice bow drop for my amazon and someone else swiping it .

Guess i better try and find some friends on Bnet who can be trusted.

thanks for the information.

another question on this , does the game inform you if someone loots an item? or any information like that ? i'm so used to playing on LAN with a friend i never thought about looting problems.

i read your guide thyiad , good work , i come from big guilds in MMOG's so i understand not being a prat , but was a good read.

No, you don't get a message if someone picks up an item. The only way you'll know what everyone else is picking up is if they tell you or you see it drop, but if the other players are off screen then you won't know.

You *will* see you gold going up if people snarfle that because gold is shared between party members.
