I have barely posted at all lately, and D2 has been collecting dust as well. But still, I sometimes feel the urge to play this game a bit, and I occasionally check the forums too (a habit I can't get rid of... ).
Before I left, I was one of those few HC MP'ers and I hosted a bunch of games too (some people even liked them  ). I liked it a lot, there is nothing like playing this game in a relaxed manner with good people. That is what I enjoy the most in this game, and I want to experience more of it.
I don't want to drown into D2 again though, so I thought a MP group which meets on weekends to play couple of hours would be perfect. A group where people can try out different things, a group who doesn't stress over beating the game. A group who might build bunch of non-standard/weird characters. A group which wants to have *fun*.
Hardcore Weekend Fun
Rules & stuff (comments & ideas, please! I'm sure I have forgotten something)
v1.11b
HC
RWM+RRM
untwinked
preferably 4+ players
play as a part of the team. Team is *the* thing
single pass (?)
full clears (?)
I'm not completely sure about the single pass/full clear rules. I want the team plays together if possible. Also, multiple people doing bossruns on everchanging map can get tedious very fast. In my opinion it would be more enjoyable to advance further all the time and use the drops as we see best.
build any character you want, but please read the following 2 rules
please, no cookie-cutter builds! (mainly LFzon, LgtTrapper, Skellymancer, single tree sorcs, hammerdin, maybe others)
I'd prefer having great variety of character classes in the group, but this is not necessary
different mercenaries to prevent overuse of certain weapon types
I don't want to have the game filled with standard characters. I want to see an unique group of adventurers and how they manage to work together, not a 100% optimized party of killing machines.
Additionally, I have played in an untwinked group where one guy was playing a lightning sorc. The end result wasn't enjoyable, the sorc killed everything while we tried to keep up with her and collect the items left on the ground.
I'd like to see people to try something new, something creative even! The strength of the party will greatly help you to overcome the weaknesses of your build.
the group has a leader (host?), and the other party members follow him instead of soloing and waiting the others to go his/her way
if someone dies, his/her items will be looted and used for the benefit of the survivors
The first rule is there to enhance the teamplay. I don't particularly like chaotic games (sometimes they end up like that but organized ones are preferred).

Any interest in this kind of thing? Any ideas, suggestions?
I'd love to, if I'm not working. Don't hold a place open for me; I won't find out if I am working until very late. But if there's a space, I'd love to pop in.
There's enough walls of text in this thread to build a small gated community.
There's also enough drivel to make a little pond in the middle,
and enough quacks to populate it with ducks. -- Kossy
:undecided:Well, wouldn't it be more fun with Baal runs? I vote for Baal runs, but no other area re-running
I want to keep the repetition of areas at minimum, but I'm not going to nitpick about the rules I posted. Few baalruns at the end of difficulty level is not a problem.

I know one guy who might join...I'll inform him soon about this.
I'm GMT +2...lag & timezone issues will be lesser for europen people (assuming I host the games), but I chose the weekend for more flexibility (and players).
All drops go to host, who then decides to whom the drop would benefit the most. That's one BIG responsibility for a host, but we all know you're up for the challenge:wink3:
And it would be cool, if we could have a table of who might join this and what build he would play or something... Preventing two same builds in the party... Imagine having all Blizzsorces

The amount of items picked up will be much higher than in "normal" play because of the untwinked nature of this group. Much lesser items can help us, and we need to sell them to get gold for repairs/gambling/etc. If only the host picked up items...bit too much work for one person I think.
Actually, I was thinking of opposite, one player picking/cubing gems and distributing them to the needy, another guy for runes and so on. That way we would know much better what we have at our disposal, and everyone would have a bit more meaninful things to do. I don't know how well this would work though...seeing our rune-guy to bite dust would suck. Again, I'm open for ideas.

Sure, I only wanted to find out the amount of interest first  I'll insert an info table into this post.

Even though I'm not going to be an *** regarding the rules, there are reasons (other than making the post longer) why I put them there :wink3:
The recent ladder reset was one of those things which brought this idea to my mind. I played on Bnet for awhile when it reseted last time, and I can sum it all up very effectively:
Competition & blizz sorcs.
Replace the competition with cooperation and blizzsorcs with variety, that is the thing I want to see in this group.
I don't require anyone to come up with some superrare/undone build, I only ask them avoid the most popular ones for untwinked playing.
