Zodijackyl's Guide To Imbuing

Due to the frequently asked questions about imbues, I present to you...

Zodijackyl's guide to imbuing v 1.0
Mainly directed at weapons, with armor section coming soon!

Q: Does MF effect imbues?
A: No

Q: What item level is my imbue?
A: The item level of your imbue is char level +4

Q: What should I imbue?
A: Imbue whatever you need, but keep in mind certain items are more likely to spawn with useful mods.

I recommend imbuing weapons because the main 2 mods (damage and damage+ar) are more likely to spawn on a weapon, while armor has many different mods you may aim for (FR, CR, LR, Life, FHR, Str, Dex, Def, Rep, and many more). Due to this, weapons are
more likely to spawn with useful mods. Also, the lack of "useless" mods on weapons (drb, mdrb, etc) makes them more likely to be useful.

For the type of weapons, you should always aim for a high end exceptional one, unless imbuing on a low level to get an LLD
wep. For.
Mace Class - Martel de Fer, Battle Hammer
Sword Class - Executioner Sword (by far the most popular), Gothic Sword/Rune Sword/Ancient Sword (much less popular but can
be the choice for some people)
Axe Class - Ancient Axe, Naga
Spear class - Lance
Polearm Class - Grim Scythe, Bec-de-corbin, Partizan (much less popular but occasionally desirable)

Bows - Gothic Bow, Rune Bow, Ballista (not as popular as they used to be)

Any weapons not mentioned on here are probably not at all useful, or minimally useful. The most popular weapons of each class are popular for a reason, because they are the most useful and viable for playing the game. Imbuing Staves, Wands, or Scepters is not a good choice because of the very narrow range of desirable mods on them, and the
extremely low chance they will spawn.

NOTE:
mlvl = modifier level (in this case)
level requirement is 3/4 of the highest mlvl

The most desirable mods on weapons are:
Prefix:
Meteoric: 121-150 AR (mlvl 27)
Merciless: 81-100 ED (mlvl 32)
Kings: 81-100 ED + 121-150 AR (mlvl 56)
Monks: +1pal (mlvl35)
Priests: +2pal (mlvl 65)
Slayers: +1bar (mlvl 30)
Berserkers: +2bar (mlvl 50)
Maidens: +1zon (mlvl 30)
Valkyries: +2zon (mlvl50)

Suffix:
Performance: +9-14min (mlvl 48)
Slaughter: +15-20max (mlvl 25)
Locust: 6-7% LL (mlvl 20)
Wraith: 6-7% ML (mlvl 21)
Quickness: 40IAS (mlvl 46)
Alacrity: 20IAS (mlvl 25) MAX ON BOWS
Ease: -20req (mlvl 25)
Simplicity: -30req (mlvl25)
Titan: 16-20STR (mlvl 58[most] OR 74[mace])
Perfection: 16-20DEX (mlvl 59)
Tiger: 21-30 Life (mlvl 51)
Mammoth: 31-40 Life (mlvl 68)

Bear: Knockback (mlvl 8)
Vileness: PMH (mlvl 9)

Maximum elemental damages are mlvl25 for fire lightning and poison, and mlvl27 for cold. The highest of each elemental damage can change the color of a weapon, fire to pink, cold to blue, lightning to a bright yellow, and poison to an aqua
green.

Most of these mods are available with lower numbers at a lower mlvl, but only the highest are listed.
The often unwanted mods of resistances are
11-20% one resist (mlvl 35)
21-30% one resist (mlvl55)
But resistances drop considerably less often than damage/ar mods due to the nature of weapon rolls.
Resistances can even increase the value of a weapon. 30CR could be more useful on a lance than more AR would to some people.
Due to the widespread use of angelics, AR is less needed on weapons (although still preferable by many). Don't imbue at a lower level to try to avoid resistances though, cutting your chance of resistances also cuts your chances of good damage quite a bit.

Q: What level should I imbue at?
A: The highest level possible. Although you may think you can aim for certain mods by imbuing at a specific level, the higher you are above a certain modifiers level, the greater chance it will spawn. I recommend level 80 as the minimum level for any character, but seeing as some people do not or can not get to level 80, they would imbue at a lower level. I would recommend level 67 as an absolute minimum for an imbue.

Please provide some feedback and any more questions you have, I'll update this to better aid forumgoers.

I could write a basic hammerdin guide, but I've written enough for today.
Any ideas of what to add to this guide? It's far too time consuming to go into detail about armor/shield imbues, especially because I recommend against them <_<

I cant rele think of anything crucial that needs to be added...forum members who want to know about imbueing will want to know what is good to imbue, and what lvl to imbue at, and if mf effects it... youve pretty much covered all that

OH! i know what you could add. A list of godly imbues you or peope you know
have accumilated over the years ?

Nice guide, thanks for writing that up. It would be good to say something about armor imbues, even though there are more useless mods that turn up. I've had somewhat decent luck getting some good mage plate imbues compared to other things. Those may be more memorable just because it seems that not too many rare mage plates drop from monsters, though.

Gambling is a bit different. Perhaps that should be my next guide? Either what items to look for or gambling. Gambling is also not effected by MF, but the main items to gamble for are amulets at a high level, so I would need to explain a lot more.

Nice guide

I saw something funny in a game the other day. I guy says "Serects to the game: If your gonna imbue an Ornate armor, used a Cracked Ornate, you'll get a better imbue!"

I always thought Superior or normal, anybody want to waste an imbue and find out?

Zod, Just wondering if your data for imbueing and gambling comes from experience/trial and error? or is this based on a third party formula? Just wondering how the H**L you come up with this shhhtuff
