PvP classic auradin mini-guide

Since 1.11 is coming out soon, this is kinda redundant, however, it could still be a couple of weeks before it happens, so in that time i suggest you make the most of what 1.10 has to offer. Having said that, here is a fun, effective, easy to use pvper that i reccomend to anyone, especially non cookie cutter character players.

By this time i am sure you all know of the auradins on expansion that use dual dreams + conviction to kill their opponents, are considered lame, and very effective. The classic auradin has no conviction, but considering lvl 30 holy shock partly synergized on expansion with conviction can kill 4k+ life opponents with absorb, up to lvl 32 fully synergized holy shock on classic can easily kill ~1k life opponents. Speeders with 85% lite resist and energy shield sorcs are the 2 characters that can tank you without 2 much worry. However, they wont kill you so its all good (whereas you will be chipping away at their life)

Keep in mind players will probably not approve of you dealing damage of 2+ screens away, and desynch. Thats their problem.

Ok time for the stats and skills

Defensive Auras:
Max out salvation and resist lightning. Theirs nothing else here i can really reccomend. I put 1 point to vigor which got boosted to lvl 10 from my + skills, but i never really found myself using it.

Combat Skills: 1 to zeal, 1 to charge, 1 to holy shield, 0-20 to foh*

Offensive Auras: Max holy shock. There is nothing else in this tree that is beneficial to this character.

This character finishes early, and you may wish to have him as a Mid lvl dueler in nightmare. *If you wish to further level him and make him stronger then i suggest you max out foh as you have already maxed its only synergy, and with up to +9 skills it will deal very impressive damage.

As for stats... this should be pretty obvious. Enough strength for gear (i went 55 base to use my heaviest peice of gear, a war scepter) none to dex, all to vita.

__________________________________________________ ________________________________
Keeping in mind you will BARELY BE TOUCHED, EVER, here is my suggested gear setup.

Tarnhelm: We dont have conviction aura, every + skill helps our damage significantly... and up to 78 life and 30 cr/lr/fr (on a perf rare helm) wont be that useful.

2X sojs: These will give you all the mana in the world to charge around, and the +2 to all skills is the main reason to use them. I suppose rares with resists///ar would also work (for when u charge, but really, sojs are cooler and better)

Hawkmail and 24 fhr fr//lr armour: Hawkmail against cold sorcs, 24 fhr fr///lr against everyone else. The 24 fhr is needed to reach the 86 fhr break point, 17 wont do.

24 fhr 2 resists belt: Any 2 resists, except for poison, or fire if its already 75% along with 24 fhr will do. Again, 24 fhr is needed for the 86 fhr bp.

Bloodfist: Fhr, life, sweet. Using this 86 fhr becomes a reality, and it is very useful when u have 10 million bone spirits chasing you and 1 hits. It makes the diffirence between life and death.

Rare fhr boots with 35+ lr///cr. I have found that r/w is a luxury that you dont need, as you will be charging to move, which is not effected by r/w. Id rather have it than not tho. The 10 fhr really is nessecary.

+2 prismatic ammy: Self explanitory. You can do fine with a decent +2 or even a +1 pris if it gets expensive tho.

+2 prismatic shield: Erm, duh. If you can get fhr on this shield then you can ease up on the fhr on boots and armoury, as long as you still reach at least 86%. It gets more expensive though.

+2 weapon with +holy shock: These are the only mods that really matter. Ar helps. I myself use a +2///3 war scepter, suprisingly easy to shop.
__________________________________________________ ________________________________

Well that pretty much sums it up for gear. Although there are other setups i feel this is superior. +9 skills, 86 fhr, 1.3k life at lvl 79 (for me, and none of my rares had any +life) and max resists.

You will rarely get hit, but, if you do, you wont regret the resists.

Ok, this is all good, but how do i actually play this guy?

This guy is easy to use.

Against opponents that you can go close to without dieing let them taste your 8k holy shock charge. This will dispatch of anyone easily, espeically sorcs and bowazons :P

For the most part tho, stay off their screen and charge around them in circles, or whatever pattern you feel like. Lvl 32 holy shock has a radius of ~25 yards, so it is like a stronger thunderstorm that doesnt run out, has a 2+ screen radius, and gives 1 hell of a smack when used in melee combat. Were looking at 1.3k max damage on it, which, although is not that high, it certainly deals enough damage to be viable, especialy considering this character has the best defense of all pvp chars in the game (imo, but really, it deals damage and doesnt get hit)

What i like to do if i want to finish the duel quickly.. and i can go up to them safely.... is desynch charge rite next to them and unleash a zeal. 5 hits of 8k dmg hurts, even if your ar and speed is low.

Im not really gonna go into detail of how to duel with this guy cuz its just so damn easy, if you make the build youll figure it out after a hour of dueling.

__________________________________________________ ________________________________
I guess thats it for the guide, other uses for this character include being the best normal lvler///cower around, and i think thats it :P. Aura damage alone kills act4 hell player 1 non light immunes fast enough tho, although this isnt a pvm build.

Feel free to post critisism, posotive or negative, if you flame me, i dont care. This build idea was inspired by the expansion counter parts, which are common, but, to date, i have never seen another auradin on classic. (who knows what their doing, just cuz u use holy shock doesnt hide the fact you use sigons set, n00bs. )

Must we post messages like that? If you don't have something constructive to say, I will simply see it as spam and delete it.

1300dmg aura is godly when paired with a FoHers convic.
nice not having to worry about AR, fcr, inc weapon speed, or mana.
i've never actually seen one in action. I would guess that without convic it wouldn't be very impressive. am i right that against someone with 75 res you would do around 54dmg if your aura did 1300? thats not bad.

my experience

I have now made a lvl 50 auradin and I am impressed.
~1-1000 dmg about 1 1/2 screen radius.
dueling experience.

Barbs
I had no problems staying away from barbs of any type.
all died reasonable fast in the nm dueling I was doing.
didn't come across any irathas barbs.

Pallies
hammeradins have so much less range that they are easy to avoid.
chargers can't get you effectively when you are charging around.
For FoHers I just switched between resist lightning and holy shock between his shots because I had bad lr on my gear. once I am done I will have 85 lr without resist lightning aura and avoiding conviction will be easy so FoHers will be easy.

Sorcs
Fire and Lightning sorcs are so easy to avoid it's not even funny
I fought one lvl 70+ sorc with energy who used a 3sock shield and was pure vit. I did minimal damage to her. but of course with pure vit she ran out of mana instantly. I think energy shield sorcs will tank you well but... you will drain their mana like crazy and make them go to town for pots.
I killed lower level energy shield orb sorcs by staying just out of orb range.

Necromancers.
necros who use alot of bone prisons will be your only challenge as spears and spirits are easy to dodge with charge. if they spam alot of prisons on you the faster hit recovery that fred suggests will really come into play. you shouldnt ever get hit when not prisoned.

Zons... didn't fight any.

Thanks for the replies guys. Murrogh, is this in 1.11? or 1.110. i just moved house and havent had a chance to play 1.11 yet. I still gotta set up my comp, im typing this from the library.

@dacar: Ok, its a guide, not spam, but i agree that its not very appropiate, considering that the dueling tactis employed may be considered BM by some.
I have some constructive things to say. Its a very fun dueler that is viable. You enjoy playing it and you win by outlasting them.

@petepizza: This is not like the firebomb guide :P. This is a real build, rarely seen, not a joke. Yes it seems kinda like a jerk thing to do if you watch it duel. Its very fun, and considering it can be caught and killed by skilled duelers, doesnt make it unfair. about 85% of pub duelers will get owned though.

@nineinchtool: glad you liked it. Yes, i would reccomend this build to anyone who likes the auradins on xpac. (much more common)

I know it is a guide. I wasn't talking abut your guide. I was talking to the other guy. Even if he was joking, it is not nice.
