Best item for classic sorc

After playing 4 year in expansion, this is the first time I start playing classic. I do this mainly becauz I wanna build up a rusher.

I wonder what is the best items I can get for my classic sorc. I know that there is no The Oculus (Swirling Crystal) in classic. So, what is the best items here? Thx

Helm:
Tarnhelm: +1 skills.
Otherwise, 3 socket Ruby (life), Saph (mana), Topaz (MF)
Rares helms are a total waste of time (godlies from before 1.08 excepted).

Amulet:
Good rare +skills with resists, life, mana, energy, you get the picture. Mahim-Oak is ok too, if you have nothing else.

Weapon:
Shard (Unique blade, 50% fast cast, plus some other stuff). This is the most popular. Needs 51 dex.
Otherwise, necro wand with fast cast, energy, mana, resists.
Other options include Hell Plague (+2 fire skills unique long sword, good for fire sorc)
Culwins point (+1 all skills): if you are old school.
Gull for a magic finder.

Armor:
Heavenly Garb (Unique light plate): Energy, mana regen, low requirements and light armor.
Goldskin (Unique full plate mail, somewhat expensive): Resists
Silks: +1 skills, needs 100 str (kind of excessive for a sorc), expensive
Or a good rare with resists, mana, life, hit recovery. Preferably a Mage Plate.
I've also seen a few sorcs with Twitchthroe (Unique studded leather, for the blocking)

Sheild:
A rare sheild (preferably a grim) with hit recovery, blocking, resists.
Or get Wall of the Eyeless (Unique bone sheild): Fast cast, mana after kill.
Otherwise, Sigons is ok (+1 skills, blocking, and cheap)
If you just need resists, a 3 diamond sheild is cheap and easy to build.

Gloves:
Either Frostburns (+40% mana) or Magefists (20% fast cast). Possibly Chance Gaurds for a MF sorc.

Rings:
Either rares with fast cast, mana, life, resists, or SOJs if you got them. Some people like Manald's for the regen too.

Belt:
Nightsmoke (for the damage to Mana).
Or a good rare with hit recovery, life, resists.
Lenymo (unique sash) is OK too but extremely rare.
Goldwrap for the MF sorc.

Boots:
Preferably a good rare with resists, hit recovery, fast run/walk. Otherwise, you can use Tearhaunch if you have the strength (Unique greaves). The unique chain boots are good for lower levels.

Sets:
You can wear Iratha's gloves + helm to get 30% to all resists and some other goodies. Wear the entire set to get even more resists. You can wear angelic ring + ammy + one other angelic item to get some life, mana, and +1 skills. These are awesome items for low levels.

Hope this helps.

I made a decent blizz sorc a while back. using cheap gear.

Full itharas (65 res all, +25 dex, +10% to max resists, PLR, prolly sum more mods)

shard (50 fcr, +resists, +mana)

2x sojs, or if u want 70 fcr and have stacked resists use 2 rare fcr rings w/ resists (the 50 fcr from shard is fine 4 pvm tho)

perfect ward, 3p diamond shield, or a rare 17/30/20 nice shield w/ 20 priz and pdiamonded

Twitchthroe or blinkbat, or 24 fhr high resist life rare armor (if ur block is low use twitch, if u need fhr rele bad use blink, if u have nice block and fhr from ur shield use a rare armour)

fhr rare resist boots or hotspurs

Get nuff strngth 4 gear
u can have base dex due to the +25 from ithara
alll to vita
Mabye get ~50 base energy

When you have eqipped all your gear you should have
85 resist all in hell for sure, preferably stacked fire//light resist
48 fhr
60+block (if its below or at 50, imo use twitch)
+2 skills and +50% maximum mana
1k life+

It worked fine, although it wasnt as good as a "all rare//soj socketed godly sorc" It could hold its own and stayed tough for countless cs runs w/o dieinng much.

These guys have pretty much covered it extremely well, but I didn't see them mention Tanc ammy + boots. That's a nice source for MF.

Actually, the best combination is Tancred's armor + boots. The str requirement is a bit high for a sorc, but it's a good combination because the only way to get MF on armor in classic is to use an SOJ to socket a rare and put a topaz in it.

As a sorc you need survivability.

Personally I'd go

Shard (10)

Res Belt (Irithra's if you feel so inclined)

Twitch

3pdt (With twitch you get respectable blocking +57 res or some)

Irithra's helm (30 F 30 l) + Ammy (15)

Bloodfists (They are cheap, they're not bad if you don't need res too badly)

Res Boots (20+)

Mana ring/fcr ring

You end up with like

Block : 64%
Res's in the mid 100's

Good survivability as I see it...The bloodfists are kinda needed for the fhr imo, but thats just because I like them.

All of this is rather cheap to set up, it's not something that requires quite a bit of wealth to make sure you don't die every 5 minutes.

I would say
Helm: 10fhr, 10 energy, 40 life, triple 30 resist helm.
ammy:+2 sorc, 15 prizmatic, 60 life extra resists of your choice.
Armor: 24 fhr, 60 life, triple resists. strength.
shield: 17 fhr, 30/20, 20 prizmatic, bone shield.
weapon:spectral shard
belt:20 str, 20 dex. 40 life, triple resists or double with faster hit recovery
gloves: magefists
boots: 30 faster run/walk, dextarity, 10 fhr. 30 resists
rings: soj/ 10fcr/life/triple resists.
Just my opinion. tell me if any of these are impossible.
