Scince im getting back into diablo 2 nowadays......if i ever get my stupid computer working (hence the whole tech help thread) I was wondering what you guys would pick to be the best kind of PvP character or the one with the most potential for it
im not looking for a whole gear setup or anything like that just an opinion on which character could be good for pvp....i have a couple characters that i made scince the patch (when i originally quit) a chargadin, a hammerdin, a fire sorc, and an IK barb
before the patch i always liked zons but they seem weak now, what do you guys have success with nowadays in pvp
thanks
-Champagne
P.S. thanks to all the people who have been trying to help me figure out what is wrong with this stupid computer and its compatability with D2
1) There's a PvP forum where they know more probably.
2) There is no "best" character, but Bone necros are very powerful if played correctly
3) I've had some sucess with a kickasssin and a wind druid for high levels (going to make a smiter soon) and at low levels I can't recommend a tigerstrike/kicker highly enough.
If there were a PvP character who can beat any other character, everybody would have one.
PvP is like Rock, Scissors, Paper, so there is no best character. From time to time, a character is created who can beat 90% of all current characters, but then the others will create one of the 10% of characters who can beat him.
BTW, PvP is about winning, so if there is a "best character", the creator probably won't tell how he made him.
i built a PvP wind druid, and ill tell ya he kicks butt. The toughest fight i have against other players is a whirlwind barb. id vote for wind druid or ww barb.
a properly played trapasin will have great success, but it is so bad manners and easily stopable with light absorb. I was having a lot of fun with my wolfbarb in melee duels, but he is weak with smiters.
Hammerdins / bone necs / windies would seem to have the greatest advantage in Pvp, since they're casters, and their damage is unresistable. That being said, I hate playing with em cause everyone and their dog has one. Sorcs + other elemental chars rely on other's character weaknesses, or attempt to create weaknesses. I dunno, I really like sorcies. -60/60 cs zons are disgusting though.
Wind is physical damage, which is certainly resistable.
I think he means unnegateable. If he doesn't then you're obviously correct as you can get up to 50% pdr.
As for which build is the "best," the ones that are generally regarded as the top builds are BvC WW barbs, Ghost sins, Bone necros, Wind druids, and Hammerdins. None of these builds can really be negated within reason and have few weaknesses.
I won't go too indepth because there has already been alot of discussion about this topic. You really should look around before you ask.
Barb is the char with the least weakness, and hence you could consider it the strongest; add the massive life and dmg and most other builds are left in the dust.
Also windy's aren't that common (well as in not that many GOOD ones) because their gear costs a crapload.
2+ +3nado +3 hur +life 10fhr 1-2 socket druid helms : crapload
08 valk : 20+high runes
good circelt: 3-4 high runes or more
2 good caster rings: 10-12 high runes
charms: 4-8++ high runes each (30+ life, 12fhr)
Same thing for necros too, and sorcs/sins aren't that far being.
Also a ww bvc barb can get away with much much cheaper gear.
I'm assuming you're West, or you'd be counting in 3/20/20's. Windies aren't nearly as expensive as you say, because you set your standards too high. Since on East non-ladder, high runes are 1:1 now with 3/20/20's, I'll count in high runes.
Druid 20% FCR Circlet - 5-10x High Runes
HOTO - 1-5x High Runes
Enigma - 3x High Runes
SS/Sanct. - .5x/.5-6x High Runes
Arach - 1x High Rune
Magefists - 0x High Runes
2x SOJs - 1x High Rune
Mara's - .5-3x High Runes
10x Ele. GCs - 10-12x High Runes
See? If every time you planned out a character, you had to use 35+ lifers, FHRs, and 15/70's, yeah, it would be expensive.
